I thought it would be fun to do a topic to show things really haven't been going that badly for us since the mega torch of March 2014 - Nov 2016 ended.

In spite of not scoring on some events that easily could have gone our way MBY still checked in with a respectable 13.4" in 2017.  Hoping we can keep the ball rolling in 2018!

I go by by winters, not calender years. Last winter we had 109', according to the WRCC, so far this winter I estimate 39 inches.

Good point.  I decided to go by year, because I actually had a good number.

You don't keep track?  I still hope to live in Central WA while I'm still young enough to enjoy it.

About equal down here

0.3" on January 7 (bust)

12" on January 10-11 ( and also a bust )

Maybe 0.1" on February 5 if I'm being generous (bust)

1.5" on December 24 (aight)

A handful of other traces.

I've seen worse years.

Since the WRCC does, I don't really need to. I also am not always around to keep track of every snowfall, so it is hard to be exact when it snows a lot.

Things kind of evened out over the year.  It always does that eventually.

..not much.

~ 2” in Jan 2017.

~ 0.5” in Feb 2017.

~ 5” in Mar 2017.

~ 4” in Dec 2017.

~ maybe a dozen traces/dustings mixed in.

So about a foot of snow overall in 2017, or ~ 8” below average for here.

O the snow, the beautiful snow!

Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

You only average 20”. That’s pretty sad.

Yep, and that “average” is inflated somewhat, thanks to the occasional blockbuster winters we get. Our median is probably closer to 15” since 1980.

Though we’ve had some fantastic winters in more recent years. Almost 90” in 2009/10, around 55” in 2013/14, around 35” in 2014/15, and around 45” in 2015/16.

We’ve had some awful ones too. Around 3” in 2011/12, maybe 4” in 2012/13, about 7” in 2007/08, approximately about 8” last winter, and so far, this winter also happens to be one of the worst in recent memory for snowfall. Just under 7” so far.

Does a tiny bit of ZR count? Cause that's all we got which froze the car door shut during the Christmas eve event and another small event in early December though not from any rain but from the air itself freezing when we had the first of the colder weather.

We are up to about 60 inches this winter.  We may have a hard time getting to our annual average of 94 inches, but we had a slow start.  It has not snowed as often this year as last year, but we have had more big snows than last year.  Last winter we had mainly snows 4-6 inches or less with maybe 2 exception, but this winter we have already had 4 snows of 9 inches or more.

18" in the winter of 2016/17

Around 14.5" in 2017:

  ~0.5" Jan 1st

  ~0.5" Jan 7th

  13" Jan 10th/11th

~0.5" Dec 24th? Not sure about this        one really, mostly just estimating here.

We might've had something in Feb/March as well but I don't remember really.

I know this is an old thread but I thought it would be interesting to compare how much snow different areas had that year. My location is in the west metro of the Portland area (west slopes of the West Hills) at around 250ft above sea level.
