I could end up very lucky or very unlucky here with this snow band.  It is snowing lightly now, but the northward momentum has almost run out.  Going to be a close call between just a dusting and may an inch or two.

This could be the longest stretch of winter weather we have had since 2008 as far as snow chances look. Shame it came this late but still could be very good.

At face value it looks like PDX could have sub-40 highs Monday-Friday this week. Although it’s likely a few of those days could also barely touch 40. That is pretty notable for this late though.

Will Klamath Falls ever have a ground accumulation above 3" inches this season? I mean, I believe it is totally normal in an average season for there to be close to half foot all at once on the ground here between December and middle of February. The most I measured at once was 2.6" on 12/02. And the total for the season so far is standing at under 7".

We have only had 12" the entire winter and our biggest one day was 7". It has only snowed on 3 days this winter so far. Average for this point in winter should be around 120" at my house

I’m happy to see the Tuesday system, but hoping that clouds don’t show up early and ruin the cold potential on Monday night. Best case scenario would be clear all night with clouds showing up in the late morning, to score a really cold low and a cold daytime high with snow in the evening.

Kona Low!!

 

Really a nice set up here.   The trade winds are cut off with this pattern so its more calm and humid but still sunny on this side of the island.   

 

We saw a storm blow up and move towards Maui yesterday but we are so protected here by Mauna Kea that its almost always sunny here even when its raining all over the state.   This is as close as it got yesterday... then the sky was all blue again in 15 minutes.

I think southern areas are in a good spot for lingering precip later in the day as sun strength becomes less of a factor.
