It makes perfect sense Tim, you are the proverbial home team cheerleader always cheering for the "other" team

I have been cheering for the "home" team for months.   Your post makes no sense.

That map is insane.

When was the last time we had a robust ridge to our west and a -NAO on steroids like that?

Well, a -NAO favors an Aleutian ridge, but nothing that extreme has happened since January 1969, verbatim.

I'm not liking the temperature trend here in Bellingham......IMBY at midnight it was about 23, it hit 20 around 3am and has been warming ever since.  Up to 28 now in what is *supposed* to be the coldest part of the day.  Looks like most of the weather stations in the hills on the east side of Bellingham are reporting 28-30.  KBLI has been down around 20-21 all night, but has shot up to 25 in the last hour.

Kelly Rd north, its still in the low 20's.  I have a feeling this is going to be a December repeat (or was it in November) where North County gets the goods and south county gets the shaft!

Yikes...just read the afd from Seattle. Non event for most people is what I got from it. That’s a bummer.

Yeah I hadn't read that before you said something but not looking good.  When all is said and done all we can do is wait and look out the window.  In my mind I keep going back to a late season event that happened about 10 years ago where the forecast was for 1-2" of wet snow before switching to rain.  I think we ended up with about 8" by early afternoon if I remember correctly.  That day sticks out because my mother in law drove up from Hood River to watch my son's soccer game for the first time, and it ended up getting cancelled because the snow was too deep.  So that gives me hope, but the reality is that it will probably just be a sloppy rain/mixed precip kind of day

Not bad but, mine's a tad better

Looking due east toward Cougar/Tiger Mts.

I agree, your shot is better! What a view!

My shot on Wednesday morning was better than mine this morning.

I was really hoping to keep it all snow this weekend since rain on 7” of hard crunchy snow will not be nice to look at or walk on at all. I dislike slop.

Meanwhile the Portland NWS is extremely bullish on lowland snow...Issuing WWA's for the Central Willamette Valley and PDX Metro.

I'm not sure what the NWS is thinking? Back to the usual PDX NWS antics.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
4 AM PST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Light snow will develop later this afternoon, continuing
through late tonight. A dusting is possible this afternoon, but
the main accumulating snow will arrive after 6 pm, with 1 to 2
inches expected.

* WHERE...Greater Portland and Greater Vancouver metro areas.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 AM Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The
latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be
obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Like always with them it's a mystery as to what they're seeing. Even the usually too bullish NAM gives us 34 degree rain. 1-2" simply isn't going to happen.

Like on Tuesday when they kept insisting Eugene was going to see accumulating snow when no model showed it. Then the next system they were calling for rain/snow mix in Eugene until the last minute even though every single model showed Eugene getting 2-4". It'd be one thing if this was a new thing, but they've been whiffing like this on events for over a decade. It is kind of embarrassing.

I cannot tell you how many times they have issued advisories or warnings up here when it is obvious the snow level is not going to get below 2500'. And just as many times they have not issued anything for the foothills when it is equally obvious heavy snow is going to fall to 1000'-1500'.

I feel like they are vastly overstating tonights system, and understating Sunday PM/Monday AM's system.

The AFD seems to make some sense:

"Bottom line: precipitation will begin as snow from

Washington/Multnomah counties, and northward. But due to light nature

in precipitation, think only minor accumulations (less than an inch)

in spots down low, with main accumulations staying above 500 to 800

feet.

Have issued Winter Weather Advisories for Willapa Hills and North

Coast Range above 700 feet, as well as the Cascades and Cascade

foothills, starting later this afternoon."

Not sure how issuing a WWA for everywhere after concluding this makes any sense though.

Saw this at the gas station next to our building (gas station has a major roof issue on the north side, always leaks) This is the result of the recent cold snap.

d**n cold for being only 5 miles from DT

EDIT: why the hell are these pics sideways?

With my iPhone pics I have to edit each one on my phone by rotating them upside down, saving them, then rotate them back to normal, saving them again and then posting the pics are fine which makes no sense but it works each time. Otherwise I have the same issue.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!
