PNW February 2023 Weather Discussion - Meteorological winter finale

Recommended Posts

Think I am around 16” or so for the season, way lower than the past several seasons but hopefully we can add to it over the next week or two!

Looks underdone compared to the models.

Who did this one? 1.3 at shelton? HAhahahahaha. Ok, try 5.3 that might be close. Is there even a model that is showing only 1.3?

Can you make it go faster??

I wish I could make time to go faster.   😀

That is just the default setting on WB for loops... but I could slow it down if you want.

We are just a whisker under 40” for the season here. Should get there this weekend.  I don’t think we’ve had enough clear cold weather this winter to give it an A+ but that’s just me.

I give this winter an A- for my location so far after the scattered light snow the other morning and the cold temps this week and the V-Day snow. Looks like tonight its going to drop to at least 20 IMBY which means I will have gotten down to at least 20 during four separate blasts this winter. Though after this weekend and next week I think I’ll be bumping it up to an A. For an A+ there would need to be a single digit temp or 30+ inches of snow throughout the winter IMBY.

This winter gets a B- so far but can definitely go to B or B+ if this next week gets me to the 10-12” range for the season. Nothing good snow-wise since the week before Christmas Blast which was just a couple inches and the crazy heavy wet snow in late November which was a pretty neat event.

That crazy westerly surge windstorm on November 4th keeps it out of C territory.

I do have to say if I had this winter in 2017-2018 after multiple dud winters I’d probably give this an A lol. Been pretty spoiled here the last 4 winters.

What year did you get 54”?   I’m actually surprised your record isn’t higher.

Looks like 31 at PDX and 35 at SEA should hold as their highs today.

36 at SLE. Not bad. Might be a record I’ll have to check.

Swamp alert. 🙄

Hard to grade this winter for me also. Not good, but I can't call it a complete wash. A number of 1/4" - 1/2" snowfalls, and the one "big" snow seemed to drop only a few inches here in the valley that disappeared from the roads almost instantly.

Meanwhile, a LOT of hype and close calls which make me feel a little more sour grapes than I honestly should.

Well my mother in law picks great times to come visit in the winter…Last time she was here in the winter it was the time between Christmas and New Years 2021…And she is arriving today and staying through mid week next week! She lives in Arizona! 🤣

She is always welcome to visit if she brings the snow to you.

Here I just snuck over to check the temp and I'm at 23F. Which is the same it was about 2:30 or so and the highest I've seen all day. At this point I've all but clinched a sub freezing day here.
