PNW February 2023 Weather Discussion - Meteorological winter finale

Recommended Posts

Snowing here this morning after staying dry most of the night. Looks like this band of precip could be over or near us much of the afternoon, but I think temps will be a little too warm for much sticking. Still nice to see flakes coming down on this last day of winter though.

Currently 36 after a low of 34.

Randy... c-zone is still there on Friday on 12Z ECMWF.   Looks like you might be one of the people getting significant snow that morning.   Keep the plow ready!

It even looks like I might get in on some action that night too. Though I’m not feeling too optimistic about it after this morning.

There is a well defined c-zone over your area on Thursday afternoon after the main front passes.

Looks like a few more hundred were added to the powerless party! Power at work though with the one or so inch we have here haha!

3 nights of disappointment have now occurred. Time to move onto spring. 40 degrees and sunny.

Yeah I agree. We're at the end and won't see anything major or prolonged.

I'm going to be like Tim and say bring on the warm weather. I have a garage to clean out and stuff to get done and need warm weather for that.

Man what a beautiful convergence zone. Would be a major memorable one if it was just a bit colder.

Maybe, but Salem had 1-2” in the low parts of town and I don’t think SLE ever got below 33-34.

Yeah it can happen in isolated spots or areas with strong sustained precip rates but pretty hard to  pull that off in any widespread fashion. I'm sure your area will do well though.

Glad to see Salem get a bit more snow. That place has been screwed endlessly the past few years.

The gem, gfs, and euro all show between 6-12 inches here late friday night. If this was to happen it would be the most snow i have had fall that late in the season, it would also get be close to that 50 inch mark for the season. The timing will have to be perfect to pull this off.

Shows how much of an elevation based winter this is here. We’re probably less than 10 miles apart yet he has triple my total for the season!

I wish the NowData the NWS uses to track snow totals for SEA is at other locations as well. Really having a tough time finding exact totals for BFI but we've actually missed out on numerous events this season. I'm pretty confident that it's anywhere between 4-5". The most was likely from this past weekend. Still way below the norm considering the numerous snow chances this year.
