The gfs shows a major snow event for the hood canal and most of the kitsap peninsula Friday night and Saturday.  I'm trying to wrap my head around what I'm looking at. Could be huge amounts with this. Flow is offshore and there is a bunch of upslope snow. Might be insane.

I have moved all over in my life!! Shockingly all with a similar climate!! I moved from Arlington to Stanwood, then to Arlington again, then back Stanwood, then Arlington again, then back to Stanwood…And all of those moves never included actually living anywhere near those towns! It’s amazing how spread out “Arlington” and “Stanwood” addresses are. For example I lived at Lake Goodwin which is a Stanwood address, and where I live now is a Stanwood address, it’s a 20 minute drive between those two locations! Our previous house that we lived at before moving to our current place is an Arlington address but is only 5 minutes from Lake Goodwin and 20 minutes from the actual town of Arlington!
Now that I have throughly confused everyone…I’m going to bed!
28.8 degrees.

Seeing a lot of posts from Facebook community pages that roads in Snohomish county are super icy and people are seeing cars in ditches, not surprising, lots of wet snow and melting snow from today. 31F currently.

Absolutely. I feel like the last good one in Seattle was in 2019 or 2018... it was the one that made headlines for 100's of lightning strikes.

googled it... Sept. 7, 2019. More than 2,000 lightning strikes. https://seattlemag.com/best-of-seattle/best-2019-seattles-september-lighting-storm/

That was so fun. I was at work but I just remember going by the front windows with my coworkers and watching the show. It was nonstop lightning for 30 mins. Never seen anything like it!

I’ve moved 5 times in my life and haven’t gone out of the Everett/Snohomish area! From Mukilteo to Snohomish to Mill Creek to north Bothell then Lynnwood and now my first home purchase here in Everett! I’m excited to branch out a bit next time I buy a place lol. Everett is somewhat similar to Arlington/Stanwood as it has quite a few different area codes. My place in Mill Creek was technically an Everett address even though it was only a couple miles from the actual main town of Mill Creek.

Was there as well! It was craazy, but not sure I'd call that game an incredible experience. Our offense was inept and lost to a bad Cal team. Getting home at 3 am also wasn't so awesome haha.

One of the most fascinating lightning storms I have ever seen happened sometime in the earlyish 90’s (perhaps even late 80’s not sure, I was a kid) in the summer. I was out in my little 10’ fishing boat early in the day at lake Goodwin when a cell moved in right overhead, I raced back to the dock, tied up and just then a bolt hit the water right where I was just a minute or so before. I could feel the heat! That was insane! Then the activity continued on off in the distance the rest of the day and most all of that warm night. It was so cool to watch the lightning constantly going…Haven’t seen anything that long of duration since. Though we did have one day sometime between 2008 and 2012 (can’t remember now, all I know was I was at my former job) where the thunderstorms lasted several hours. Fun stuff!

I put these Falken Wildpeaks on our Outback, they have been fantastic in the winter and did not break the bank!

Yup that's more like it. We drove that route often when I lived in Stanwood and of course the 240 CT bus did that road and I'd ride daily.

20 seemed low. But Warm Beach can also keep a decent snow around for a few days due to the trees.

Arguably, we have much easier time getting snow than thunderstorms. We can get 2 days of non-stop snow at times, but just a few hours of decent thunderstorm activity west of the Cascades is incredibly rare. Sure, we get the odd rumbles with cold core stuff but warm core storms are a different beast.

In some places it's particularly bad, I think the last semi-decent storm we had in this area was back in May 2017. Oddly enough, it actually feels like they've become even more rare recently just as our winters have grown snowier.

My sister toured Whitman but chose Lewis & Clark in Portland when she was looking at colleges. She eventually transfered to a school in CA an hr from home. But she liked Whitman when visiting.

Will do! Excited to ahve some more snow chances than I get here in Seattle
