It’s been too long since Snohomish King boundary got blasted by PSCZ snow. It piles up on the Euro.image.thumb.png.fb2401cf8a6727a1810f960d5541d1df.pngimage.thumb.png.3e49377366f46bc63effe7c52076c25f.png

Really liking how the Euro is showing all those convergence zones! That would be really amazing if it worked out that way and if this map verified I would put this winter at an A+ for MBY.

That one has the potential to be pretty big down here. Those #'s in Eugene and SLE are probably overdone, but its a situation where valley locales could see 1-3" of wet snow that melts by noon.

It's confusing when you switch between "down here" and "up here"  😂. I vote for "down here", since you are South of most forum members!

Snow cover for a week!image.thumb.png.61a35b842c16152ee0da9931c85a4d79.png

I always look at wind to get a feel for sustainability of snow cover.   There are only 4 days with roaring onshore flow and a strong SW wind in the Seattle area... Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

But some of those days have snow in c-zones to the north.

Wayyyy overdue for a beast of a convergence zone that drops several inches of snow around the King/Snoho line. Jan 2020 had a pretty good one but that’s one of the more significant ones I can think of in the last 5ish years.

Going to fill all of my gas cans for the generator, I could see my area getting slammed with a bigly wet snow convergence at some point next week which would drop lots of branches.

Wait can you briefly explain what you mean by 10:1 ratio? thanks

10:1 ratio is roughly 10 inches of snow is equal to 1 inch of rain. So for example, that 9.5" of snow for Portland would be around 0.95" of an inch of rain, if it were to fall as rain. 21.1" of snow for Hoquiam would be 2.11" of rain. I'm still learning myself so someone feel free to correct me if it's off lol.

At this point I don't even know what to say.

Shaping up to be a great February. A lot of lowland places will likely see accumulating snow for the 3rd time this month on Sunday, with more chances to close out the month early next week!

We are at 15.5" on the month, we need about 3" on Sunday morning to pass 2018 for 2nd snowiest February since I've been up here.

Oh ok thanks that makes sense. I always thought 12" of snow is equal to 1" rain. pretty close. would be amazing if these maps verified

28 seems aggressive today when its only 14 and approaching noon

I wish I had a good place for my weather station. I only have a SE spot so in the midmorning circa 9-11am it runs warmer before coming back into alignment. We were above freezing there but our local weather station a half a mile from us is still below freezing so I probably have more sub freezing days than I actually record but that's okay since we get them a lot as we are East side folks.

I was thinking along a similar vein yesterday Andrew. Added up all of the February snow PDX has seen since 2014. It was like 41.4”, giving them a ten year 2014-23 average of over 4” a year just for February.
