PNW February 2023 Weather Discussion - Meteorological winter finale

Maybe, but Salem had 1-2” in the low parts of town and I don’t think SLE ever got below 33-34.

Yeah it can happen in isolated spots or areas with strong sustained precip rates but pretty hard to  pull that off in any widespread fashion. I'm sure your area will do well though.

Glad to see Salem get a bit more snow. That place has been screwed endlessly the past few years.

The gem, gfs, and euro all show between 6-12 inches here late friday night. If this was to happen it would be the most snow i have had fall that late in the season, it would also get be close to that 50 inch mark for the season. The timing will have to be perfect to pull this off.

Shows how much of an elevation based winter this is here. We’re probably less than 10 miles apart yet he has triple my total for the season!

I wish the NowData the NWS uses to track snow totals for SEA is at other locations as well. Really having a tough time finding exact totals for BFI but we've actually missed out on numerous events this season. I'm pretty confident that it's anywhere between 4-5". The most was likely from this past weekend. Still way below the norm considering the numerous snow chances this year.

It’s so painful watching it snow moderately all day just to see it not accumulate at all 😂

If there was a "Ultimate Weenie" tag on here, I'm sure you would have earned several times over. 😉

And out of nowhere it’s nuking snow at work all of a sudden 🤣

The remnants from last night. Was a snow globe when I went to bed at 4. Surprised people didnt score more last night with the way the roads were around Everett and Marysville-Stanwood. I guess a quick melt is to be expected this time of year.

37 and wet snow now.

Also bonus vid from the drive home from Seatac last night.

As it has continued to snow, we have lost all the snow on the traffic light pole, and we’re losing snow on the dirt and grass. I don’t understand how that can happen while it’s snowing 😂

This is just north of smokey pt Costco where the speed limit (in normal conditions goes up) or is this by Quil Ceda /116th?

I think we took this pic just a few miles south of Smokey Pt actually! Closer to Quil Ceda. Only got heavier from there until we hit the Skagit line. Looked like I was driving with my brights on with the snow rates and how fat the flakes were!

Puking snow at work!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Congrats, Randy. This winter has proven once again that no matter what, your house scores. And on the rare occasions you miss out, you go full weenie as much as someone who's seen .5" all winter.

If there was a "Ultimate Weenie" tag on here, I'm sure you would have earned it several times over. 😉

@Meatyorologist can we make this happen?!

Out in Everett with only a meter in elevation, we have had snowfall since daybreak. At the start of the day, there was a solid two inches on the grass and roofs, with slush on the road. As the day has progressed, we managed to warm up to 34.5ºF, and have now just started to cool off. Feels weird to see semi slush and ice on the lawn with baby-fist sized clusters of flakes fall from the sky and only manage to last a minute on the ground before succumbing to water and the ever slightly warmer temps.

Have we ever had a good or great winter season under a strong Nino? I know we have with weak ones but I cannot think of a strong or super Nino that has worked out. 68/69 maybe?

May be an image of nature and body of water

Ventura, CA

Afraid I have to call Photo-chop B.S. on that shot, which is too bad since there are many jaw-dropping photos from the recent storm down there that stand on their own quite well. The foreground is Ventura, but the background is pasted in from somewhere else. There are no high mountains like that -- snowcapped or otherwise -- visible behind the Ventura foothills, no matter how long a telephoto lens you use. Here is a Google Maps view from the pier:
