Also the first time there's been a 1" snow in the first 10 days of November since 1966. Looks like ORD benefitted from being farther away from the core of the city because Midway only had like 0.5"

It seems like it shouldn't be that difficult to get a single inch of snow during early Novermber.  However, my records show that yesterday's half inch of snow in Cedar Rapids is the ONLY measurable snow we've had during the November 1-10 period over the last twelve years(I began keeping track in 2007).

Dashing thru the snow..

Or at least driving thru it :D

I had to make a run into Kalamazoo this afternoon. Wasn't much plowing here in Marshall but as soon as you got into Kzoo Cnty it was noticeably deeper and you could see plows had been out on the x-way. What a classic day after the storm with all the snow sitting on the trees, the ground nicely covered, and lots of shoveled driveways and such. I flipped on the Christmas music channel and it felt like a fast-forward to late December. Everything seemed more festive. Even saw some kids getting some early sledding in. I doubt there's been too many earlier days when good sledding could be found. While all the concrete surfaces melted off to puddles at my place, I did shovel my back deck and steps as they were not melting at all. Earliest use of the snow shovel in the decade I've lived here. It compacted a bit, but wasn't melting despite some peeks of sunshine today. Also noticed a lot of trees in town that had held there leafs, suddenly they all came down and instead of a blanket of white, there would be a circle of green, red, or orange leafs on top of the snow. I do remember that at my folk's place when we got a rather wet 4" snow hit on 11-11-83.

Battle Creek reported 4.2" Saturday the 10th. We may have done better than I thought here in Marshall
