11/24 - 11/26 Winter Storm

Lets see what the Euro spits out tanite

I expect it to resemble it's 18z look. I just reviewed all the 0z models that I can see snow for, and almost all depict warning level snows (6-10" amts) across most of SWMI well south of current watch box  WWA from GRR. If Euro is added to that list there should be some adjustments coming overnight.

Nice color to it, was supposed to be all rain. By the way got the grass completely covered in snow and slush starting on roads. It will be Interesting when we actually start getting the snowstorm.....

Great storms always seem to over-perform and the loser storms are lame from the get-go

I can easily see that happening. A little bit more south, and this will be all snow.

Did you read the LOT aviation update earlier? Sounds like it'll be pure rippage for a while at all the Chicago airports. That's a great sign for yby isn't it? Also hearing mention of gravity waves being possible with the convection piece. Gonna be quite jelly if we end up getting shafted over here, lol.

Quick changeover is happening because temps are plummeting way faster than expected. Was supposed to be 1-2°/hr, it's actually happening at 4°/hr. I'd expect Lincoln to start seeing snow in an hour or two.

Great sign of a dynamic system that's getting it's act together. I know the Plains get these quite often, but those further east have been waiting prolly since Dec 2000 for something along these lines

.UPDATE...

Issued at 1130 PM CST Sat Nov 24 2018

Doing a late evening update to snowfall totals, to increase to the

8-12" range for southeast NE and southwest IA, including Beatrice,

Nebraska City, Falls City, Red Oak and Clarinda. These areas are

already in the blizzard warning. This is based on new 00z

guidance, and incorporating latest CAM QPF trends in the

HRRR/RAP/Highres ARW/NMM. Even then, we may be conservative on

snowfall amounts, and some areas could see 12-15" in extreme

southeast NE and southwest IA.

I used to not think you could get any worse than OAX until I joined this board and saw the stuff Grand Rapids puts out.

Seems like every holiday that we have a storm they've got the sub players on duty and everything reads like an 8th grader wrote it.

Nonetheless, I cherry picked a small gem buried in the update for TAF sites:

The worst conditions associated with the incoming winter storm are

expected to occur after 06Z/1AM with VLIFR visibilities of 1/4 to

1/2 a mile becoming possible especially at AZO/BTL/JXN. Note that

the timing of the worst conditions is later in this forecast

package than those previous.

Prolly be much lower vis at times if any of these SR models are reflective. Eventually headlines will catch up. It's just so painful with that office

I really get nothing from watching these "storm chaser" scenarios. Usually a jinx whenever they've sent someone to SEMI (see Superbowl storm in 2007). I don't watch TWC anymore but I did like Cantore and his GHD-1 experience was a classic. Nonetheless, the resent embarrassment with the hurricane footage should be enough to say it's all a bunch of over-hyped drama stuff

You know what crazy is the guy who runs oax went to school with my dad. When he figured that out at the spotter class I went to years ago he kept talking all about it. Never meet the guy in my life lol. Sorry that just a fun story to share
