bainbridgekid
I'm in the process of buying a house about a mile East of Paine Field in Everett and have been trying to get a better idea of what to expect weatherwise, especially for snow. Unfortunately, it seems like their snowfall data is extremely limited. Does anyone know of a good source where I might find this data? It has to be a better location for Convergence Zone snow than my place now in Mountlake Terrace, but I haven't found much snowfall data to give me an idea how much better. I'm looking forward to taking this next step! bainbridgekid
Good spot with some elevation I believe! Best of luck with the buying process and the move! Congrats!Thank you! The airport is about 600 feet and the house is about 515, so it should be a pretty good spot! 1 Quote Everett Snowfall (510 feet elevation) Snow since February 2019: 91" 2023-24: 6" 2022-23: 17.5" 2021-22: 17.75" 2020-21: 14.5” 2019-20: 10.5" 2018-19: 24.75"
bainbridgekid
I had to scour reports from Komo and Seattle Times for Everett. I think I have it in a spreadsheet on one of my machines back home. You might want to reach out to Scott Sistek as he lives in the area and might have something on hand.Good idea! Let me know if you find that spreadsheet. BLI snowman
I'd recommend playing around with the wunderground history feature, since Paine Field's obs unfortunately do not get transferred to the NCDC database in an official capacity. Unfortunately the site changes to wunderground have messed up the ability to play around as much with this, but the old layout still exists if you dig for it. Here is Paine Field's current monthly data https://english.wunderground.com/history/airport/KPAE/2018/11/24/MonthlyHistory.html?req_city=New%20York&req_state=NY&reqdb.zip=10001&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999 And if you want to play around, you can go back to December 2008 https://english.wunderground.com/history/airport/KPAE/2008/12/24/MonthlyHistory.html?req_city=New%20York&req_state=NY&reqdb.zip=10001&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999 Or even back to January 1950, sans precip totals https://english.wunderground.com/history/airport/KPAE/1950/1/24/MonthlyHistory.html?req_city=New%20York&req_state=NY&reqdb.zip=10001&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999 Probably your best bet in terms of getting some hard data. And FWIW that location typically does pretty well.

No snowfall data though per ASOS practice.

I've noticed the 1947-53 era had a lot of the early airports recording snow data. Stations like PAE, KLS, CLM, TTD, and Stevenson all briefly kept detailed snow data in those years before I assume budget cuts in the 1950s scaled that effort back. Fortunate for us since that was such a snowy stretch here.

I had been playing around on wunderground but hadn't found all of that yet. I will have some fun digging through these. Pretty frustrating there isn't consistent data easily organized. I would guess that area likely averages between 10 and 12" a year, but I'm really not sure.
