BLI snowman
I guess maybe because the last decade hasn’t exactly been a snow drought for the south valley. At least no more so than for any other area. They have had some decent events. I guess none happened to line up around Christmas. Sure, but if you took any other random day on the calendar in mid-winter, I'm not sure a 28 year snow drought would really stand out all that much, but with it being Christmas Day it just feels like a bigger deal. As one example off the top of my head, I''m pretty certain that January 22 hasn't had any measurable snowfall or snow on the ground since 1982 here, probably longer for Eugene. There are a number of other days like that too.
BLI snowman
Eugene averages 5" of snow a year. Yes and their median is 0". Snowless winters are common there and the average is beefed up by the big outlier years.

MR.SNOWMIZER
Finally got a nice clearing on my big piece of land which is about 3 miles north of my cabin property. Alot of work to do alone!!! Pretty amazing how much more it snows on this property compared to my cabin. Last year max depth was about 40 inches at cabin on march 1 and at this property there was 57 and elevation is only 300 feet more here. I chose this spot also because it's a north facing slope and that is a huge factor for keeping snow on the trees and ground. Yes I'm a huge snow freak lol. 8 Quote We come from the land of the ice and snow.

A bull moose walked out of the woods about 30 yards in front of my truck!! I've seen every animal there is to see in the woods but nothing compares to a moose. There so big it almost looks out of place. I had a horse that was 18.5 hands tall and this moose was bigger. Amazing animal. 8 Quote We come from the land of the ice and snow.
