If this storm does put down another decent snowfall of 3-6 inches on top of the 8 or 9 inches we currently have on the ground here at Higgins it would give us our deepest snow depths of the season aside from the Christmas time storm. Most years our deepest snow depths are the first week or so of March so this winter season would follow the “norm” and continue that pattern.  Locals and the media up here are still talking about how warm this winter has been though, lots of people compare it to the 2011/2012 winter.

What a bummer that this is going to be so much rain for so many people who just got a massive snowstorm. I hate to sound greedy but I wish we got this last storm way earlier and this one either didn't show up or was much colder. Not good to see northern Wisconsin in the danger zone of rain.

This is going to be a fast tracking storm out of the S Plains up into the Lakes later tonight into tomorrow.  Some models have it deepening into the 970's??? Crazy!

0z GFS gets it down to mid 970's right over C IA...possible TOR could spin up across the S burbs of Chicago tomorrow morning...

@Black Hole @Iceresistance @OKwx2k4....this is the time of year you start gearing up for Spring mode and what a way to close out met Winter...

Accuweather seems to think up to 6 inches at Cascade before the rain comes, which would be amazing as the rain would eat the fresh snow first before eating the base. But none of the models really seem to show it, I have no idea where they're getting it from. Kind of a really weird call. Interesting to see if it verifies but I think they are crazy.

(left end of your map grab) My sister sent a txt w/pic. She lives in Simi Valley and at my niece's place in Thousand Oaks they had some severe tree damage and power outages from bad winds. This is a potent shortwave for sure.

My good friend lives in Calabasas which is right by Thousand Oaks and he said its been extreme out there.  He hasn't seen a system like this in decades!

Had some ice on the cars this morning in the pouring rain.  Roads were fine though.  Raining heavily.  Hoping it melts some of the solid ice/sleet pack on my driveway as I never cleared it before the refreeze last week.   Having twin boys really takes a toll on your back.  And i can't snowblower this ice at all.

1.26" in my yard overnight.  Several heavier cells passed just east of me, which is why BMT in Marion (see above) got a good bit more.  Still, 1.22" in February is a high-end event.

Around 1.40" total rainfall here. It started just before midnight with quite a bit of thunder and lightning as the first band or two moved in. There was quite a bit of standing water during the rain at dawn, but not a lot of runoff. It soon soaked into the soil as the warmth yesterday and this rain helped thaw it out just in time again, though it wasn't frozen deeply to begin with.

I hate to quote myself, but for posterity Accuweather completely blew the snow, it never happened.

Lost track LOL, but iirc this is the 4th straight snowstorm for the region of SEMI also known as the northern tier of DTX's zone. No real staying power of the snow cover but talk about an active and fun stretch. Sure balancing out the winters when I-94 was the focus. Meanwhile down here, just a bunch of (much needed) liquid.

My place in the north was just a modest "starter home" so no where near as nice, but otherwise exactly what my forested lot looked like back in the 90's. I was on a hill tho.
