It's a cold Winter's day in Kearney today...

Was up in Hurley snowboardidng Whitecap Mountains, what an awesome place. Definitely under rated, awesome spring conditions for their last weekend. Going to be there next winter for sure. Snow was great, missed the snow down here but almost all the resorts were closed anyways. Next weekend doing Lutsen, looks like it actually might be pretty awesome. GFS already showing something great for us at Lutsen next weekend.

Gross. Hope not. My grids have 30s this week and then 40s/low 50s so hopefully whatever falls will be rain.

A sunny start to the week but clouds increase and some rain by late today. Dry and cooler most of the week before warmer weather by Friday but also rain Friday night into Saturday...but may approach 70 degrees in the rain on Saturday!

Hello from NYC. Here the weather is kinda coolish w some showers expected to arrive tanite. Temp attm near 51. I saw some flowers blooming here yesterday, which is kinda odd. A little too early. Here for business and pleasure and hopefully, the week gets warmer but from what I am seeing, looks like the highest readings will top in the upper 50s at some point and then fall into the 40s for highs and lows in the 30s.

Meanwhile here in Omaha, our "EPIC" March continues as we sit at around 1.5" of snowfall for the month officially (OmahaSnowFan called it at the start of the month that we would only end up with 2" total LOL). What's more frustrating outside of the cold and nuisance snow showers is that we are quickly falling behind on moisture again (only 0.82" for the month so far) as the bulk of the moisture and action continues to miss us to the west, north, east, and south.

This lousy pattern doesn't seem like it's going to budge and it doesn't give me much hope that things are going to change during spring.

Yesterday was a rather nice late March day, While this year had been mostly above average in the temperature department there have not been any real warm days yet this year. The warmest so far at Grand Rapids is just 54 back on February 14th At Lansing the 58 on the same day is the warmest and at Muskegon it topped out at 59. We shall see how warm we get on Friday

The official H/L at Grand Rapids yesterday was 50/33 there was 013” of rain fall and 0.1” of snow fall. So far the overnight low here in MBY has fallen to 25. For today the average H/L is now up to 50/31 the record high of 78 was set in 1905 and the record low of 8 was set in 1923. The record snow fall of 3.3” fell in 1947. Last year today was a very cold day with the H/L of 33/17 That high of 33 is the 4th coldest and the low of 17 is the 8th coldest for this date. It looks like March will go out like a lion this year.

Normal highs for today are in the mid-50's we will not see temps that warm until Friday. The chilliest day of the week will be Thursday with highs running nearly 10 degrees below normal. We also have the chance of some below freezing mornings over the next 3 days. Keep an eye on any plants you may already have outside. Our next rain chances arrive on Friday afternoon.

With clear skies last night I went out and could see of course Venus, Mars and Jupiter but could not see Mercury nor Uranus.

With a good amount of sun (86% of possible sunshine) yesterday was a somewhat pleasant late March day. The official H/L was 48/28 and there was no rain or snow fall. With clear skies the overnight low here in MBY fell to 28 before the clouds moved in at the current time it is 36. For today the average H/L is 50/31 the record high of 82 was set in 1910 and the record low of 6 was is 1970 the most snow fall of 7.5” fell in 1954. Today the sun angle is the same as on September 14th

Plenty of valley locations across Chester County saw sub freezing temps this morning with some upper 20's in spots. Along the higher ridge locations we temps remained in the mid-30's. Today will be just about normal regarding high temps with readings in the mid-50's. Tomorrow we slip to well below normal with highs in the mid-40's. We warm up to start the weekend but with showers likely on Friday night into Saturday.
Records for today: High 87 (1945) / Low 9 (1923) / Rain 1.23" (1984) / Snow 3.0" (1942)

For KC peeps, I'm attaching a spreadsheet with KC's snow history by month from 1888 to the present. Makes it easier to rank the years

In using the AWSSI index the current winter season is at 240 points good for a mild winter season.

With a clear sky and calm winds it sure did get cold here overnight. The low here in MBY fell to 16 and that is the current temperature. It looks like the official low for Grand Rapids will be 18. Lets hope that this is the last night that drops down into the teens until late fall.

The official H/L yesterday was 39/23 That high was reached at 8:30 AM before the snow moved in. There was 0.08” of precipitation and 0.06” of snow fall.  There was 55% of sunshine but that did not help with a cold wind during the day. For today the average H/L is 51/31 the record high of 76 was set in 1910 and the record low of 1 was in 1954 the record snow fall of 3” was in 1928. Last year the H/L was 58/33.

I agree 100%! I used to take this day off every year but haven't done so in a while. I only get so many days a year to take off from teaching and I need to save them for other things. GO CUBS! I question the direction the Cubs organization is going right now; the good thing is nobody is eliminated from contention on opening day!

The official H/L yesterday at GR was 46/17 there was 0.06” of rain fall and a reported trace of snow fall. There was 72% of possible sunshine. For today the average H/L is 51/32 the record high of 78 was set in 1986 and 2010 the record low of 6 was set in 1923. The record snow fall of 3.7” fell in 1951..

That official low of 17 (the low was 16 here in MBY) at Grand Rapids yesterday was the 7th coldest at Grand Rapids Yesterday I reported it as being the 9th coldest but there were ties with 2 years at 14 and 2 years at 16. The official low at Lansing of 18 was the 10 coldest once again ties and Lansing records go back to 1964. And at Muskegon the low of 19 was the 5th coldest for any March 30th there.

At the current time there is light rain falling with a temperature of 41.

It's been a Yo Yo pattern here in the AZ valley as we have been experiencing storms that roll on through in between shorter term warm spells.  Not really the best Spring break year for many that have come out to the valley over the past couple weeks.  It was a cooler and windy day yesterday as the storm passed on through.  Yes, the furnace is still turned on and running this morning.  Pretty crazy and unusual for the last day of March.  Looking forward to the low 80's Sat-Mon.

No Tx is on its way to 82 today.
Light wind and a 30% chance of rain.

Sunday will bring 80-82* and a 50% chance of rain.  Nice Spring so far.

We have picked up 0.19" of rain so far this morning. Sun should return for a while this afternoon and temps will soar well into the 60's to near 70 degrees. This has a good chance to be our warmest day so far this year (so far 66.3 on Feb 23rd). A strong cold front crosses the county toward evening with a sharp drop in temps. There cold be a strong thunderstorm and there is a high wind advisory in effect till 2am Sunday. We should see temps fall back into the 40's by late evening. Much colder tomorrow with temps running almost 10 degrees below normal. Highs should be in the mid to upper 40's. Much milder to start the new work week.
Records: High 84 degrees (1917) / Low 7 degrees (1923) / Rain 1.26" (1977) / Snow 15.0" (1924)
