Reg
After a generally quiet day in my area yesterday with very little rainfall, rain has been much more consistent since midnight today and we just had a band of heavy rainfall move through a few minutes ago.
Dan the Weatherman
There has been off and on rain here in Orange from yesterday to today and some of these bands have been moderate to heavy at times. When we get a break in the rain, I will post a total from Friday night to the date I post. I received just over 6" of rain here in Orange during January, which turned out to be one of the wettest months in recent years for my area. Anti Marine Layer
It has been pouring for at least an hour here, but looks to be quite localized as none of the major airports are getting much.
Anti Marine Layer
It rained nonstop moderate to heavy from about 1 PM to 3:30 PM here and Lake Forest got 0.33" out of it. Most places got only about 0.10", so the front was an underperformer.
Anti Marine Layer
Something is clearly wrong with the KFUL observations as it has been showing Heavy Rain all night long and less than 0.25 total from it.
Anti Marine Layer
With today about the same amount of daylight as November 5, we are half way through the winter season. The sunrise and sunset are both 30 minutes later, however, because solar noon went from 11:34 AM in November to 12:04 PM today. Looks like we may see a little more sunshine today, except for Fullerton Airport where it will probably be showing heavy rain all day long with very little precipitation totals. Anti Marine Layer
Looks like the rain is mostly done. It's absolutely freezing outside, though 25% of people would be comfortable in shorts and a Tshirt. Clouds still obscuring Saddleback Mountain to see if there's any snow up there.
Reg
Had a 20-minute burst of heavy rainfall move there here about two hours ago while it was only 43 degrees. Ended up with 0.24" for the day.
Reg
One last shower moved through my area while it was 40 F after midnight. Tons of snow on the mountains today, a beautiful sight.
seattleweatherguy
This would have been fun: But by the next model run it looked like this: Still close to bay area. Any chance you see snow with wa and or getting several inches? The bay area last saw snow in 1976
Anti Marine Layer
Not much snow on top of Saddleback Mountain, but these exceptionally cold storms usually are pretty moisture starved. First 6th days of February are averaging lower for the high temperatures than any other February back into the 1870s according to WRCC data.

Dan the Weatherman
For this last series of storms from Friday night, 2/1 to Tuesday, 2/5, 2.85" fell here in Orange. I have only used the sprinklers twice to irrigate since the beginning of the year, and that was during the 2 week dry spell back in January. Dan the Weatherman
Yesterday morning's low here in Orange was 34.3, which is one of the coldest readings I have ever recorded with my digital thermometer. This morning's low was a bit milder, but still quite cold, at 36.5.

I'd rather have prolonged, drawn-out storms but I guess beggars can't be choosers. We had enough of those last weekend and early this week. At least I got to enjoy the sunshine this afternoon. John Wayne Airport is just 0.10" below their annual average after this morning's storm with a total of 13.23". Downtown L.A. is 1.76" below theirs with a total of 13.17". Anti Marine Layer
Beautiful, but chilly day today. Anti Marine Layer
Latest solar noon of the year in Pacific Standard Time with the actual time of solar noon just over 30 1/2 minutes later than back on the first day of Fall Back. You may have noticed most of the light gained has been in the evening since the Winter Solstice. We will now start to gain more daylight in the mornings than we do in the evenings. Anti Marine Layer
San Diego (71 F) and Fullerton (71 F) both had higher maximum temperatures than Palm Springs (64 F) today. That usually doesn't happen without Santa Ana Winds, so there must have been some offshore flow. Los Angeles forecast discussion said yesterday that easterly winds could lower the rainfall totals.
