ENSO is pretty important dude.  If you haven't noticed the west coast of the US is one of the more sensitive places in relation to its state

I have no problem with reasonable discussion.

6-8' of very compressed snow. We are at 280" in town for the season with very little melting

Hopefully that snowpack is still spongeworthy when it comes to your incoming rain, meaning hopefully it will absorb most of it. My buddy lived in South Lake Tahoe in the 90's and a similar event occurred but the snowpack couldn't take it. The snow made some interesting channels of runoff, one of which came into his rental house causing tens of thousands of damage. He safely evacuated.

Nobody is sure how much of this will be snow versus rain yet. Either way it will be a mess.

Looks like PDX didn’t manage to fall below 40 overnight. First day this month without a low in the 30s.

They should keep the sub 50 streak alive today and possibly tomorrow though, which would beat 2019 and almost tie 1951 for consecutive highs below 50 in March.

Yikes. Hopefully you've cleared off your roof. I know SLT has strict building regulations for snow load, but this event will reach the limits of what can ever be expected.

Can’t even remember the last time I posted one. I’ve kind of been passing the torch on the CFS.

12Z ECMWF coming on board with what the GFS has been showing for many runs... which is a sharp north/south temperature gradient on Sunday and maybe one of the warmest days in several weeks in the Seattle area.

Followed by a blessedly rainy day on Monday.   I am looking forward to some systems being just rain with southerly flow to wake up the landscape.

That S-N gradient has already been a thing. Reached 50˚F at YVR yesterday, and will probably do so again today.

Thanks! I got very lucky landing this property. The pool is mostly useless though in our weather. Frogs like it

this is showing a very localized area of snowfall tomorrow morning out here. Funny the model knows right where the snow belt out here is. That map is right where the most snow falls out here.

That’ll put me up to 60” on the winter. About on par with 2016-17 here. Not quite up there with the big ones of my lifetime. 1996-97 and 2008-2009.

Uncovered below ground pool seems like a bold move in the Olympic foothills.

No reason to cover it except to keep the worms out. Last year it did freeze about 4" thick on top, but all the pluming is insulated so no real concern.

I bought the place with the pool already... I would not have dug one. I am for sure the only in ground pool within 100 miles

I'm around 47, this would get me to 50. Record is 56 from 2008. 2019 was around 50 but much more exciting because it was all in a period of a few weeks.

Still had a lot of snow on the ground 4yrs ago today, with very little melting until mid month.
And yeah I still do not regret my career change one bit. It was getting to the point where every Saturday was shot since I could barely move from the rigors of the week. If I would have taken care of my body in my 20’s I probably could have kept going in the field for a lot longer.

I meant more like a roof or something over it. But yeah none of that surprises me. You still have a gorgeous property!

I have a half acre pond down past the pool which is where the frogs come from. My wife loves the pool in summer, but she is from Ohio and can handle the cooler temps.

We have thought about a roof or like a green house on top to keep it warm, but then we would block our view of the ridge.

Looks like many spots in NW Oregon/SW Washington and the Willamette valley are running anywhere from 5-7 degrees below average month to date.
