I've been playing around with this incredible weather raking site, that some people use on here and found that the Feb 20 to Mar 3 average for SEA is the 5th coldest in the period of record.  Quite impressive!

For those interested in checking out the site here it is.

xmACIS2 (rcc-acis.org)

A bit of a learning on how to use it.

Feb 22nd - March 3rd is even colder. 2nd coldest on record at PDX!

Fun tool. Fun fact. The longest run of sub-20 lows at Silver Falls 1938-present is in November 1952. Go figure.

The longest stretch of sun-60 days ended on 5/3/2011 at 192.

The last week of February (2-22 to 2-28) averaged 33.7 degrees at PDX. Extremely impressive, with the second coldest behind that being 35.1 degrees in 2011.

Too soon to know for this location, but the first half of November was the 2nd coldest on record behind 1978.

Interestingly I looked at July 20-31st and last year was the 2nd warmest in that period behind 1978.

I feel you. We average 75" of precip a year, but still get shadowed in NW flow. I'll never get used to it.

It’s crazy that parts of the Puyallup valley come away with zero accumulated snow after 10-15 different snow chances this year

Yea seems like the Puyallup valley and Olympia really got screwed this winter. Especially Olympia since they seem to usually put up decent numbers

I haven't been online here all day so I'm not sure if someone posted about this but it's been a long time since I saw multiple low pressure systems in our area. I posted a GIF so you can see what I'm talking about and did a screen shot and added where I believe the lows are. Like I said, it's been awhile since I've seen this happen.

I've been here since 2004 and I still haven't got used to it. The Olympic rain/snow shadow is the bane of my existence and Victoria is only on the peripheral. I can't imagine how it would be living in the epicenter.

It has been hard the last couple months to get away to go up there because of work related problems and employee issues. Trust me i need to get up there bad. Its good for my brain.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you can get up there some time in the next couple months. Elevated areas in the interior can get huge amounts of snow as the tail end of the cold season meets the start of the convective season.

Went over to our house in Quincy today. Got some nice pictures of the snow capped mountains along the way. Models are showing 1-3” tonight here so I’m hoping that works out!

This is probably going to go down as one of the longest runs of sub 50 highs this late in the season, and it's also been weeks since many places have had a low above 40.  Very impressive run.  Looks like another run of freezing mins coming up too.  Just too bad more of us couldn't have done better with snow during all of this.

I hate it to be honest. If snow isn't on the table, I'd much rather some warmer weather than pointless cool damp weather this late into the season.

So this is in the driest part of Sequim. Pretty crazy to think this gets 15" of annual rainfall and you can still find lush forests. Just goes to show how powerful marine layer fog drip is.

Looks like another possible snow threat tomorrow night for this area on the GFS tonight.  Mid levels are colder than last night so if it's right about the moisture it's possible.  Not counting on it though.

Looks like some jet suppression on the EURO. Overrunning event?! 🤡

I was going to say, the block maintains some control for the entire run.  Every single low for SEA is 35 or lower for the next 10 days.  Incredible after the cold we've already had recently.

Down to 33 now that the skies have cleared.  Probably another sub 30 low coming up.

California gets annihilated on every model run.

Definitely not how I pictured the worm 🐛 turning this winter. It was being debated if the early January pounding they got was a flash in the pan, but it’s becoming clear that this is at least a somewhat sustained intraseasonal pattern. Interesting for a Niña.

Ended up with a respectably chilly, for March 4th, day. 46/38 spread. Snow level didn’t seem to go as low as forecast overnight last night, but it’s still been solidly cool. Mostly cloudy with scattered showers today. Down to 37 this evening with some mixed showers moving overhead earlier.

Pulled off a 45/32 here with month to date average 38.2.

Almost another week of cold to go, and that could get extended.
