Starting posting here in early summer 2007 if I remember correctly.

I don't remember when I started posting in here, but I remember reading the forum when I was in college and @Black Holewas still in high school and you were Jesse-Orchards on Mark's blog.

I specifically remember being talked off the ledge here by @BLI snowmanat the beginning of the early July 2007 heatwave (PDX hit 102). Seemed so early in the season. Little did I know…

Lol, not sure I’d go that far. Well, I guess it is comforting upon the realization that the concept of self is an illusion, thus there is no self to die.

Whatever the nature of reality is, it’s probably far beyond human comprehension. As if you could teach calculus to an amoeba.

I started posting here in December of 2007.  I remember KVOU? (BLI snowman) was a staff person and threatened to ban me because I called you an A-hole!  I've changed since then.  I like you now.

In terms of recovering from damage... seems like a wet summer would be beneficial at this point.    Best way to get that is with humidity.  Justin's favorite summer weather.

Summer thunderstorms were a fair amount more common here in the old days than they have been recently. I didn't realize at the time how good we had it in the 1990s with our summers but I would love to go back to that.

Power tripping. I think the only person I helped ban was Kevin Martin's 3rd or 4th sock here.

I think Mark's blog started with the 12/1/2005 snow bust. This forum technically started around the same time and prior to that a number of folks posted on the OFA forum.

All that said I’ve definitely been known to be an A-hole here. ;) I’ve tried to change some too.

Think I was part of the original forum starting in 2005 (I believe) as R-DUB and vividly remember Jim having a very bad day in November 2006 when I was getting buried and he couldn’t buy a flake and melted down. Then I remember Tim losing it in December 2006 when the massive windstorm hit. I really thought he was going to move after that!

This is very true. I remember every summer we would go camping a couple of times in the Three Sisters Wilderness, and it seemed like summer thunderstorms were like clockwork.

I went back and read that thread a couple years ago when it was still available and I was more angry at the slow response from PSE... 10 days seemed a little extreme.   The 7 inches of rain in one day in November 2006 and our road washing out was a little more stressful to my younger self.   😀

Solar polar fields are reversing now (South Pole has already done so), so IMF will be pointing south for the next ~ 11 years. Solar maximum likely within the next year or two.

The last IMF reversal ironically happened on Dec 21st 2012, which was when the world was supposed to end. 😂

Already down to 30. With about 6" of fairly solid snow cover, I would say mid-20s is possible.

I finally did get some snow in November, but only a couple of inches.

Mean temp this month is 34.5 through the 15th. All time coldest is 37.4 in 1951, down we pull that off, but something in the 38-39 range would still be top 10.

Still getting to use the shivering guy icon this late in the season is awesome!

I think we have a shot at upper 20s here.  Yet another case of having a clear night with a legit cold air mass in place.  Some seasons it's just so easy.

39.8 here.  Very impressive for the first half of March.

SEA was running -5.1 for the month as of yesterday.

The wind is slimming KSEA's chance of extending it's sub 40F streak.  Still 45F there with NE winds at 9 mph.  Anyway 1954 went the first 25 days of March with below 40F lows, we can't compete with that.

They had a low of 39 this morning.

1954 also had that insane cold reading on May 1st.  28 at SEA and low to mid 20s for many locations.  It's very hard to get a cold dry air mass that late, but it can happen on very rare occasions.

Why is ECWMF showing temperatures in the mid 50s Friday afternoon in LA? That is not what they have in the forecast.

It might happen with that very deep trough that is going to dig in.  Apparently the huge MJO wave going into region 8 didn't shake up the pattern.

If we can avoid a Nino we might see this type of thing continue into next season.

The high amplitude phase-8 MJO was triggered by the SSW which itself was responsible for the flip back to cold in February.
