No, it means that Marine Layer does such a good job posting about our boring weather and adding his own interesting facts/observations that I really have nothing of value to add there.  If we lived in a place with actual seasons, I might have more to say   I've said this before.

As far as this thread is concerned, I enjoy reading the more thought provoking/high effort posts, even those I do not agree with.  I roll my eyes with the nonsense/low effort types.  I respond as I see fit.

CRT takes Marx's oppressor/oppressed group ideology and makes it a race struggle instead of a class struggle. Same basic ideas. The oppressed must become woke to their oppression and fight a revolution against capitalism. Wealth must be redistributed equally among the races.

They want his philosophy taught in the public schools and in the American military. That means they support him and think he has good ideas. Also school teachers are saying capitalism is a barrier to solving racial injustice, climate change and other pet left issues.

If you define authoritarianism as being anti-abortion, or not allowing trans people to use the restroom of their identified gender, or banning sex change surgery for kids who are way too young to really know if they are really trans, then you can define it however you want, just like conservatives can define communist however they want.

If you define authoritarianism as being anti-abortion, or not allowing trans people to use the restroom of their identified gender, or banning sex change surgery for kids who are way too young to really know if they are really trans, then you can define it however you want, just like conservatives can define communist however they want.

"All rational* people on this weather forum hereby declare that the extremists on both sides are nuts.  Said extremists shall be put on a unprecedentedly large ship and sailed to the Northern Atlantic on the Winter Solstice.  The ship is to be then lit on fire and sunk.  Anyone subsequently identified as an extremist on either side by a rational person on this forum will be rounded up and a new ship will be build, sailed, lit, and sunk.  Repeat as necessary."

*Rational people are to be identified as people who can list 10 legitimate grievances against both the R's and the D's with a straight face.

So maybe he supports some conspiracy theories, but calling people conspiracy theorists is just another strategy of the left to stifle discussion from people who disagree with them. And even if he is a conspiracy theorist, that still does not mean 100% of what he says is false.

Why would his list of goals be quoted on the Marxist Internet Archive, (marxists.org), which according to Wikipedia "is a non-profit online encyclopedia that hosts a multilingual library (created in 1990) of the works of communist, anarchist, and socialist writers".? He must have got that list from someone else who was a Marxist.

I'd still trust actual people who lived in China through Mao's cultural revolution and compare what is happening in America today to a much more subtle and slower version of what happened there. There's a few of them, such as Xi Van Fleet.

Also, it's only since 2010 or so that the majority of young people today in America say they'd prefer socialism over capitalism. That never happened before in our history, and anyone who's been around for the last 20 years or so who does not realize our culture has changed dramatically in that time has not been paying attention. It was a very different country when I was young, much more patriotic and much more religious and friendly to Christians.

Not a Newsom fan in the slightest but I will say he impressed me (for being a Democrat) when he was interviewed by Hannity a month or two ago. He was well spoken, addressed every question, and even acknowledged some of his missteps in governing California. This debate definitely seems like it has a strong potential to hurt DeSantis while helping Newsom gain more national clout.

Overall it seems like an unnecessary risk for DeSantis. Although with how bad his poll numbers have been lately maybe it's not so unnecessary.
