1. The realignment of priorities regarding hours worked and hours with family/friends.

2. The eventual discussion/acceptance of UBI due to automation.

3. The elimination of the Electoral College

4. Online voting

and hopefully sometime soon

5. A revolt against social media algorithms pitting people against each other for profit.

Or it will happen in a more reactionary direction:

1. Replacing a professional civil service with one hired exclusively at the direction of the President.

2. Continued expansion of Presidential power.

3. Expanded Federal police power to keep major cities and other left-leaning areas in line.

4. Homosexuality re-criminalized, LGBTQ folks put back into the closet.

5. Election results not in accord with what the ruling party wants retroactively "corrected."

6. Christian fascist values imposed by state mandate. Mandatory prayer and Bible study in public schools.

It really is up to what the people will tolerate. The political class the USA has, regardless of party, is certainly totally incapable of preserving a democratic republic.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Pretty much.  The youth seem very politically and ideologically driven compared to the last couple of generations, so we shall see what comes of it.

I did some back of the envelope calculations and came up with maybe 10–20% being willing to revolt in the event of a serious attempt by Trumpists to create a fascist USA. That is actually quite significant, because experts on political revolutions say the key number needed to get a revolution going is more like 3.5%.

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190513-it-only-takes-35-of-people-to-change-the-world

My main fear — pretty much a certainty, actually — is that there will be blood. The USA is just too steeped in a culture that values militarism and the use of violence to solve problems, with so many guns in circulation, that it is hard to imagine the process resolving itself via completely nonviolent means.

Just want to say we need Pres. Drama like we need another Pres. Cramudgeon.
I think DeSantis has this if he doesn’t trip up major-wise but we don’t know the Dem contenders (who will face a tidal wave of sour grapes all around).
It could be an underwhelming Presidential run.

And it was planned too, there was a manifesto and a general map of the school.

EDIT: There is a huge plot twist! She is apparently Transgender.

If she shot up the school simply because they disagree with her views, then she could have a hate crime tagged with the mass murder charge.

Lol! Seriously?  Ignoring the basic facts of eyeballs =$$ and an article like that plays right into the same narrative that haif the country wants to immerse itself in, you can't think of any other reason of someone making sh*t whose wikipedia article starts with this paragraph?

Did you even look at the article? He provides references for everything he says.

Critical race theory:

  1. believes racism is present in every aspect of life, every relationship, and every interaction and therefore has its advocates look for it everywhere
  2. relies upon “interest convergence” (white people only give black people opportunities and freedoms when it is also in their own interests) and therefore doesn’t trust any attempt to make racism better
  3. is against free societies and wants to dismantle them and replace them with something its advocates control
  4. only treats race issues as “socially constructed groups,” so there are no individuals in Critical Race Theory
  5. believes science, reason, and evidence are a “white” way of knowing and that storytelling and lived experience are a “black” alternative, which hurts everyone, especially black people
  6. rejects all potential alternatives, like colorblindness, as forms of racism, making itself the only allowable game in town (which is totalitarian)
  7. acts like anyone who disagrees with it must do so for racist and white supremacist reasons, even if those people are black (which is also totalitarian)
  8. cannot be satisfied, so it becomes a kind of activist black hole that threatens to destroy everything it is introduced into

Point 1, for example:

“First, that racism is ordinary, not aberrational—‘normal science,’ the usual way society does business, the common, everyday experience of most people of color in this country,” - page 7, Critical Race Theory: An Introduction.

You can go to Amazon and see if the book, Critical Race Theory: An Introduction, is real or not, buy the book and see if he's making up fake quotes or not.

How about Point 5? He also gives references, but you can also find this website from Newsweek.

https://www.newsweek.com/smithsonian-race-guidelines-rational-thinking-hard-work-are-white-values-1518333

image.png.307c3dafba3d269b8ea36ed2a08db526.png

It then criticizes whiteness for using the scientific method

image.png.7f8b069191a7b579545a3abbf2e45361.png

For Point 7, some real-life examples

  • Larry Elder, a conservative, was called the "Black face of white supremacy" by one reporter when he ran for governor in the California recall election
  • Biden said to Black people, "If you don't vote for me, you ain't black"
  • In the recent police brutality incident (where all the policemen were black), some reporters on the left blamed white supremacy for they way they reacted

Also, the article I referenced is from June 12, 2020 - I checked his Wikipedia article quite a few times over the last 3 years and it was only recently added that he is a conspiracy theorist. But if you look at this Wikipedia article, it does in fact state that critical theory has its roots in Marxism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_theory

In addition to its roots in the first-generation Frankfurt School, critical theory has also been influenced by György Lukács and Antonio Gramsci. Additionally, second-generation Frankfurt School scholars have been influential, notably Jürgen Habermas. In Habermas's work, critical theory transcended its theoretical roots in German idealism and progressed closer to American pragmatism. Concern for social "base and superstructure" is one of the remaining Marxist philosophical concepts in much contemporary critical theory.[7]: 5–8

Bill Maher, a liberal, also thinks the left has gone crazy. Remember he's the same guy who hoped for a recession if it would cause Trump to lose and also advocated single-payer health care.

Also it was @SilverFallsAndrew who originally referred me to the New Discourses site, so you must also think he's crazy like me.

Every American 18 years or older who passes a background check should be able to own the following:

1. Stock pistol

2. Stock hunting rifle

3. Stock shotgun

Mix or match up to three firearms.  Anyone wanting more than that has Freudian type issues.

I do not even know why this is still an issue.  This country is full of idiots.

I personally thought it was kind of ironic that people were dissing the governor of Tennessee for signing a bill banning drag shows for kids after this shooting only to find out the shooter was trans.

All but assures this will exit the public consciousness after the next news cycle and we’ll never hear of it again.

Israeli Trump caved, but he also made a potentially deadly compromise.  Ben Gvir is a total piece of shite.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/27/opinions/political-crisis-israel-biggest-lesson-ghitis/index.html

Netanyahu had been caught in a vise. If he agreed to the protesters’ demands, his extremist coalition members might leave him, potentially ending his premiership. But Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, of the radical Jewish Power party, agreed to postpone the legislation.

In exchange, Netanyahu agreed to create a national guard under Ben Gvir’s control – a very dangerous idea. Granting what amounts to a separate militia to a radical government minister at the center of this dispute could turn non-violent clashes into something much worse.

Just pointing out the hypocrisy. There's going to be proposals to pass laws forcibly disarming all trans people, simply because they are trans. And these proposals are going to come from the same crowd that is normally really big on the Second Amendment and opposes pretty much any sort of gun control. Just watch.

P.S. I generally tend to be very skeptical about gun control, particularly in the current political context in the USA. I want individuals in marginalized and demonized groups to be able to defend themselves, because I don’t trust the system to protect the vulnerable.

It then criticizes whiteness for using the scientific method

I read the first couple of paragraphs and then wanted to see who it was I was reading.

I make it a rule of mine to not read articles written by conspiracy theorists and someone who admittedly writes false research papers.  Huge red flags.

Also it was @SilverFallsAndrew who originally referred me to the New Discourses site, so you must also think he's crazy like me.

The algorithms aren't perfect but you and him have a lot of overlap on the social issues stuff.  Definitely not the same, though. :)

The Tennessee Government is considering the Transgender Woman who shot up the Christian school a hate crime because it appears she targeted the school because they disagreed with her views as she's a former student there.
