I'm not going to waste much breath trying to convince someone who can't already admit that Biden is a weak president. Again, even Democrats admit he's weak. This isn't a right-wing talking point. Multiple articles and pundits from across the political spectrum, including the Democrat's own fanboy Stephen Colbert, have brought up his weakness. If you can't admit that at this point, you are just a blind partisan hack.

Don't really care how much you might love ol Joe - he makes our country look like it's being run by a grandpa who can't remember which Congress person died, or where he's at, or what the President of South Korea is named, or how to complete a sentence. If it wasn't so embarrassing it'd actually be pretty sad.

Unfortunately the state of our politics in this country means old geezers like him can still get into the highest office.

So being gaffe prone means he's weak? Thats a strange interpretation of the term.

Do I really need to compile a list of gaffes by trump? Aka "not weak"?

Chris Christie will obviously never win the nomination (even Republicans don't really like him) but he might provide an interesting role within the primaries. It's plainly clear he sees his sole purpose as wiping Trump off the map the best he can. While his attacks might fall on deaf ears with the 20-30% of the base that stands with Trump no matter what, it might help the remaining Republican voters see Trump even more unfavorably than they already do. That can only help us never-Trump Republicans.

It might also force some candidates in the non-Trump lane that have so far been apprehensive to strike at the Kingmaker to start taking some shots more slyly under Christie's attacks. No longer will they need to stand (relatively) alone in openly criticizing Trump - they have someone they can duck behind as they lob their shots. It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out come the debates later this summer.

I think it’s going to take a loss in 2024 to drive it home to the GOP’s base that their party does not have much of a future with Trump.

The image of DeSantis is a winning image. Mature, young family, a Governor.  All the right buttons pushed.
Now let’s see how his policies stack up.  I hope he isn’t one to tax like mad. Retirees just can’t bear it.
His border policy will matter to a bulk of people.
Too early to tell if he and Trump will be a real race.

Biden has been a stuttering (yes, he has a stutter, has had one since a child) gaffe machine since just about forever, and as he has aged, his opponents have had a field day portraying his speaking impediments as a sign of senility.

I wish the Democrats would choose a younger candidate, too, but there really is not much actual evidence that Biden is going senile. (Sen. Feinstein is another matter entirely.)

I was really warming on DeSantis about a month ago. I liked the younger, family, military side of him. But then I really thought about it... I don't think I want any more manufactured culture wars and outrage over everything "the left" does. We get enough of that from the media, I'm tired of it coming from politicians too. It was fine at first with Trump back in 2016 but now it's just annoying. I'm tired of all the division, and hatred, and violence coming from both sides. I miss the days when we could disagree on everything but at the end of the day one fact was always true: we are all Americans. And that used to mean something other than what jersey you had on.

As I mentioned in a previous comment, there is a faction of fairly powerful countries that are becoming very comfortable with each other and they all want nothing but to see the demise of America. And guess what? They don't care if you're Republican or Democrat, gay or straight, black or white, man or woman or whatever else... They want all of us dead because we're Americans. That's what we're up against. Stop with the petty BS and start fixing shit and getting us in the strongest position we can before they decide to make a move.

Back to DeSantis - Pair his "war against woke" with his surprisingly non-conservative governmental beliefs (true conservative is limited goverment overreach into the private sector, among other things) and I'd much rather have someone like Nikki Haley or Tim Scott. Strong in their conservative beliefs and positions but empathetic and willing to listen and compromise with the other side. Oh, and not 1000 years old.

That would make it 1 out of 5 elections for Trump's "winning, nothing but winning winning winning" record.

I really hope it doesn't come to that and he'll get the hell outta here but something tells me you might be right.

Frankly, it’s hard to conclude much of anything from that poll other than what labels people prefer to ascribe to themselves. Because that is all it was: a poll about self-labeling. The actual beliefs beneath those labels were not examined.

When that’s been done, it often turns out there is a significant number of self-identified “conservative” voters who align closer with Democratic Party policies on the environment, helping the poor, management/labor issues, etc.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Not to lean into conspiracy theories but I will say it raises some eyebrows that they indict Trump on the exact same day Republicans finally view a FD-1023 form that allegedly details a bribery scheme involving the Biden family from a known credible source.

Must just be a pretty large coincidence.

The full story on that deal is interesting. They were getting paid through like 11 different bank accounts.
I know multimillionaires that only have like 3 accounts max.
That’s nuts. 11 😆.
I wonder how many overseas accounts and strong boxes they have?  No doubt China has some stashed too.  Talk about a crime ring.  They were doing well.  Obama has certainly been silent.

I said hated how other Americans live. Don't put words in my mouth.

And there's plenty of evidence, some recent, and some less, like when George w. said he wanted a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

But you be you and be proud of that hate.  It's what makes this country great.

I don't work for the FBI, Justice Department, nor am I in the inner circle of the Biden family, so I can't say anything for certain, but given the bullshit and shenanigans the Republican party has spewing for a while now, I'm going to guess that the information is a big nothing-burger.

The actions of the Republican clown show has done nothing to lend one iota of credibility to their claims.  As has been said a few times on here, elect clowns you get a circus.

Having said that, when all is said and done, there may be something to it, and if there is, I hope it is pursued.

At this point, any of the talking points being brought up here on Biden and this issue is MAGA party line BS.  There must be MAGA study sessions on ZOOM or something, or wait, maybe its Tucker Carlson, Fox, OAN and all of the other right wing propaganda specialists.  🙄

The nerve you have to accuse people on here being too partisan while posting this garbage.  Literally no one, including Barr while he was AG, said that it was credible.

This was TRUMP'S FBI:

Quote

According to people familiar with the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail sensitive information, the allegation in the document came to the FBI through the Pittsburgh field office, where Barr had created a channel for allegations involving Ukraine. That included materials Rudy Giuliani — who was then President Donald Trump’s personal attorney — had gathered from Ukrainian sources claiming to have damaging information about Biden and his family.

The allegation contained in the document was reviewed by the FBI at the time and was found to not be supported by facts, and the investigation was subsequently dropped with the Trump Justice Department’s sign-off, according to the people familiar with the investigation.

You're in good company with these comments!

In a tweet reacting to the indictment Thursday, Rep. Matt Gaetz referenced an unverified allegation that President Joe Biden was involved in a bribery scheme involving a foreign national while vice president.

“Imagine being naive enough to believe that the Biden Bribe evidence and Trump indictment happening the same day was a coincidence.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also mentioned allegations made against Biden, calling Thursday's indictment against Trump "shameful" and "pathetic."

Look, politics is ugly. I don't put anything past politicians. They will do whatever they can to tear down the other side and keep control of power. Both sides are guilty of it and this very well could be just another Republican ploy.

That being said, if news stories like the one on Fox News I posted above have any teeth to them, then there is definitely something there. If any of that is true, there needs to be a full-throated investigation into Biden. Unfortunately the mainstream media will bury it like crazy and it'll probably go nowhere. Sounds familiar...

Former President Donald J. Trump declared at a meeting in July 2021, six months after leaving the White House, that a document in front of him was “classified” and “highly confidential,” according to a person briefed on the matter.

That meeting, with people helping his former chief of staff with a book, has been previously reported but new details of Mr. Trump’s specific comments appear to demonstrate explicitly that he was aware that materials he had taken with him from the White House included classified information. The recording is expected to be a key piece of evidence in the case against him that the special counsel Jack Smith brought this week, with seven counts related to his possession of reams of classified material.

Mr. Trump also indicated he couldn’t show the document to the people in front of him — many if not all of whom didn’t have security clearances that would allow them to see sensitive government material — and added, “As president, I could have declassified them, now I can’t,” according to the person briefed on the matter, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Mr. Trump then said the document was “classified,” and a woman in the room replied, “Now we have a problem,” according to the person familiar with the recording.

Many details of what is said on the recording were reported earlier by CNN, which also first reported on the existence of the recording.

A spokesman for Mr. Trump did not immediately respond to an email about the new information.

The meeting took place in July 2021, by which time officials at the National Archives had already spent at least two months pressing Mr. Trump’s representatives on returning documents they believed he had in his possession.

The transcript demonstrates that Mr. Trump was not only aware he had sensitive material, but had it with him at his club at Bedminster, N.J., where the meeting took place, and that he knew he no longer had the power to declassify material.

Mr. Trump’s meeting was with two people helping Mark Meadows, the former chief of staff, with a memoir about his tenure in the White House. Aides to Mr. Trump also attended.

At the time, Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, whom Mr. Trump had appointed, had been a subject of multiple media portraits describing him as pressing back against an erratic president in the final months of the presidency.

Mr. Trump went on a tear about General Milley.

“Isn’t it amazing, I have a big pile of papers,” Mr. Trump said at one point. Papers could be heard rustling, and then Mr. Trump began appearing to point to a specific document, saying, “Look, this was him.” At another point he said, “This was the Defense Department and him.”

He described something in front of him as “like, highly confidential,” and maintained it was really General Milley who wanted to attack Iran (in fact, General Milley cautioned against such a move).

At one point Mr. Trump was interrupted, and a woman in the room could be heard on the recording referencing Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state whose email server Mr. Trump used as an attack line during the 2016 presidential campaign. Mr. Trump said Mrs. Clinton would send material “to Anthony Weiner, that pervert,” referring to the former congressman who was married to an aide to Mrs. Clinton.

Mr. Trump and his allies have repeatedly asserted that, while still in office, he had declassified all the material he took with him from the White House (though the charges may not rely on whether anything was classified). But his assertion appeared to be undercut by the recording.

“As president, I could have declassified them, now I can’t,” Mr. Trump was recorded saying, according to the person familiar with its contents. He then reiterated something was “classified” as he and one of the women in the room talked over each other, according to the person familiar with its contents.

“Isn’t that interesting? It’s so cool,” Mr. Trump said, adding, “You probably almost didn’t believe me, but now you believe me.”

Well the first problem with your comment is "Elon Musk" and any opinion coming from him.  With regards to the documents case, Trump admitted he did it, MULTIPLE times.  Despite that, yes, there is an embarrassingly large percentage of the conversation that will think its a "witch-hunt" and will lose faith in the justice system.

I’ll have more faith in it if they’ll balance the scales regarding the Hunter/Joe payoffs.
The “rat catcher” needs to be blind like lady justice.  Just establish the real Truth in both cases and go from there.  But cold objectivity on all sides is as rare as golden goose eggs.

I have very little faith left.  It’s a good system but it’s usually abused by everyone in DC (and beyond btw). I’d love to see the Truth served up regarding everyone involved.  I’d like to be a dreamer and believe in the facts - the truth.  May as well  The odds are slim

Thing is Biden plays the game, Trump doesn't and now he will pay.

To break that down, yes all politicians are criminals, but most operate within the code of the DC club. Trump thought he could do things his own way and get away with it.

Biden mishandled classified documents, too, but the difference is that Biden has a plausible claim to having done so accidentally and unknowingly (which is bolstered by how he voluntarily reported the documents once his aides discovered them), while Trump is on tape telling his people to hide the classified documents and not turn them over.
