NWS Portland can cancel the WWA for Portland, first and foremost, and NWS Seattle should definitely upgrade in certain areas.

Yeah... 5 inches in 5 hours.   Ground was bare at 4 p.m.

 

I just went out with a broom and shook off some of the trees in the yard as they were starting to look weighted down by the snow and it was deeper than I expected out there.

Time for that flow aloft to turn southerly for Seattle to get that deformation band rotated in.

Obviously the 4km WRF is wrong.  It showed little snow for the foothills, but the radar shows the eastern areas getting just as heavy of snowfall as anywhere else right now.

I loved it, no one reasonable wants to deal with icy roads when they have to work. Fingers crossed it's the start of a trend!

Wow! Looks great! I measured a half hour ago and was up to 1" so 1.3" on the day if what fell this morning is counted. My prediction of 2-4" overnight here is definitely still in play.

When I went out to take that pic the snow was definitely much lighter than it was 15 minutes ago.    The band is clearly shifting west.

 

My son is at Snoqualmie Ridge at work and he said its coming down really hard and estimated 5 inches there as well.

How much snow have you picked up so far? Currently 26F here with the snow equivalent of drizzle, just enough to dust the ground.

Havent measured but I'd estimate 4".

Have to account for irrationality of the office, Portland is known to issue phantom warnings(hope they won't do it until snow is falling at temps below 32 at their office this time for sanity of this forum).

Currently in SW Portland for the week and it's raining pretty good here, down to 37. The occasional flake mixed in but honestly less than I would have thought given the precip rate. Bummer the radar is down tonight, it seems like there might be more moisture out there than what was modeled.

God, the temperature hasn't budged. Still 35. I knew this was marginal but even the hills aren't getting anything.

It was snowing earlier today here at 35. You should be fine with the upper levels as cool as they are.
