Which day has the most potential for NW Oregon?

 

Saturday through Tuesday all have a lot of potential. Best to just focus on the closest timeframe and take it one setup at a time.

Just took a nice walk to get lunch at work... the sun reflecting off the snow is stunning. Still below freezing in Kirkland

Would be nice to eventually get our first sub-freezing high in a while. Haven’t had one since Jan 2017.

This, along with the cold that comes before it, would equal a nearly unprecedented stretch for this late in the season.

 

Actually, in the airport era I can't think of any period this late that would equal it.

 

Seems like the supposed February cutoff is just happenstance during the airport records where December/January were favored. Events like Feb 1890, 1923, and 1936 show major cold is very possible even after the early portion of the month.

Surprised to see it still hanging at 34 at SLE as of 1pm. Far less melting of the snow then I expected. Looks like HIO just switched from south to east wind and the NE wind is back at Pendleton/Hermiston.

Not something you see everyday for the lowlands of the PNW from the CPC.

Newly registered to The Weather Forms and very excited to see posts like this. Question is: In looking at this map and others related to this topic, it looks like Whatcom County, WA is about to get skunked on snow with the next few rounds of snow. Nothing just South of the Canadian border. Is this accurate?

These things are kinda broadbrush, and things will change. Just know that we are in a high potential and possibly snowy pattern, and you stand at a good chance of getting some powder.

1.5" in West Salem when I left this morning. Wife had to take the SUV to work in Mt. Angel this morning. Wasn't too bad. Trip to McMinnville was pretty easy too. Most of the snow is gone from Mac but there was less than an inch when I got here.

 

BTW, hope your wife is resting well.

ICON only out to hour 90, but looks good. Low Saturday is further south and closer to the coast. About 50 miles due west of the Columbia. Looks like Seattle is getting shadowed by the Olympics at that time.

Heavy snow in a severe drought!

1.5" in West Salem when I left this morning. Wife had to take the SUV to work in Mt. Angel this morning. Wasn't too bad. Trip to McMinnville was pretty easy too. Most of the snow is gone from Mac but there was less than an inch when I got here.

These clouds sure are holding on nicely today. Only up to 33 at my place so far, with most of my snowcover still intact. Hopefully it will clear out by sunset so it can really plummet.

I honestly don’t think it’s going to be any big deal down here. Feels like a bigtime north/south Puget Sound event. I’d love to be wrong but the more I think about it, we haven’t been in any sort of Arctic air down here with a sub-freezing high so I doubt it’ll be anything memorable for the south valley.
