I'm still not sure on the difference between the two or which algorithm has better verification but here is Kuchera totals through 4PM Tuesday.

More than the 10:1, FWIW.

The Kuchera ratio takes into account temperatures in the lower atmosphere when calculating ratios, so it accounts for features like a warm nose better. End result generally means wet snow will show up with lower totals and if it's cold, it will show higher totals. I've seen conflicting and pretty much only anecdotal reports about whether or not it's more or less accurate.

This is the first time I've ever seen the EURO be so consistent with a potentially major event in a very long time. Honestly the only model not buying it is the GFS. Unfortunately for me, subconsciously I value the GFS's input a bit too much.

Bend Posters will be asking for a refund, how come Washington valleys in the lee of the Cascade are scoring more?

Can we please think of the radar technicians!

Interestingly the 850mb temps for the GFS are a lot colder than the EURO.

I know that we frown on people that post meme WRF maps, but that's 3 feet ratio adjusted at mission ridge and 2 feet in Wenatchee....

I live in that area, and I wish those maps included county lines or major highways. My only frame or reference is Lake Chelan to the North and Puget Sound to the West and I still can't make out my location.

Wow looks like the Cascades and the Coast Range do way better than Portland which is in a big hole of lower totals. What a disappointment for Portland once again.

I wonder how many more times the late weekend/early week system will bounce between great for Oregon and great for the Puget Sound region.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Pinpoint your location using the coastline on Puget Sound directly to your west and the WA/OR border directly to your South, then just follow the lines up to where they intersect.

I do have to say, I hope that we pick up more YVR posters in the future, but for this particular stretch, considering the hole they seem to be in for basically everything, I'm kind of relieved that most of our active members are WA, OR, and Vancouver Island based.

My hope is that it settles on a consensus good for all of us.

Far from decided.

The Friday system is locking in now.

It will be Saturday at the earliest before things settle down for the Monday/Tuesday event.

Probably Sunday

We might have some more consistency by Saturday.   Right now its like the wheel on Wheel of Fortune when its cranking around at a good clip.

By Saturday it will be slowing way down and you can start to anticipate where it might actually stop.

I did that on a Dec 18, 2008 final. Ended up staying up all night when I realized the low was stalling to the north. Did fine on the exam, but I wouldn't recommend it.
