February Snowfalls 2/10-2/12, Part III & IV

We have family down there. Plus she's not particularly fond of the cold.

Weren’t you the one that moved east to have colder/snowier/non boring winters?

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I'm actually looking forward to a pattern shift and subsequent warm up. I've kinda had enough. I'm ready to move to Phoenix

I'm ready for the summer as well but will try and squeeze as much wintry and stormy weather in the next month or so.

There's actually a decent chance I move down to the Phoenix area in the next 5-10 years.

You could always move down here to PDX. We get warmer/sunnier weather than up there in the summer. There's actually a decent chance I move down to the Phoenix area in the next 5-10 years.

Spokane's summers are hotter than ours, at least during the day which is what counts the most. Average highs are in the mid-80s July and August. Their summers are also easily sunnier.

Well, I've picked up about 0.5" here so far...this storm is really outdoing itself. Only wet roads I can find in the entire Puget Sound region are up in Mount Vernon. Maybe the band up near the border will make its way down here sometime tonight.

On the other hand, on radar it kind of looks like I'm in the eye of the storm which is kind of cool.

Hope thing are still going well for him!

Yeah he's loving it.  Switched his major to physics a couple of weeks ago, all of the chemistry required for Environmental Engineering just wasn't working for him, but he loves physics so much he's actually been studying theoretical physics on his own.

He definitely misses the water here, but he loves the people there, and how much more friendly everyone is.

I will be curious to see where he decides to settle when he graduates.

Okay, I said this wind was "weak" and not notable, but the wind is howling and my windows are closed. I'm heavily sheltered from the south wind as well. Things look to be as strong as the January 5th windstorm, maybe a bit weaker. But the low pressure system is not that strong at all, and only the NAM was suggesting decently strong winds.

Forgive my rather...er....crude post, but I couldn't resist. The snow is just penetrating my area. But Scapoose seems to be getting the shaft...

Yeah, I'm surprised at how strong the gust have been out here. The 12z EURO had even stronger gust for Tuesday morning so we might be able to track a potential wind storm along with the heavy rain.

The low is so weak, I'm quite impressed. The OLM-PDX gradient has lowered a lot, but the EUG-PDX gradient has shot up.

Snow is still falling, southerly gradient is slacking slowly but surely. Pretty decent winds, and lovely (but light) snow. Radar looks very good for hilly areas, lots of yellows around Scapoose.

Raining here now. That was a nice week of wintery weather, and I am grateful for it.

Seven straight highs below 40/lows below 30, and 7" of snow. More winter than I ever dreamed we would see this year if you had even asked me just 2-3 weeks ago.

Perhaps things aren't over yet, you never know! But for a winter that started off SO dull, and SO boring, it was a great turnaround.

Very true. This coming week definitely isn't looking anywhere near as cold as last week, though. We do look to stay in a generally cool pattern which is always nice.
