In a brief break of the snow right now. Getting something that I havent seen since the Blizzard of '16 in Philly, bits of tiny ice pellets blowing about. Checking the snow on the railing, the liquid in that has dropped and the railing remains glazed over. Looking at some of the power lines, they look a little weighted.

I guess the next band moving up is the one that was dropping at some pretty impressive rates. Still at 30º in Everett.

The January 2016 blizzard in Philly? I was living right outside center city at the time in Grad Hospital. Amazing time. Recorded about 26 inches in my little yard. Snow drift completely buried my car. Like, couldn't see a single area of the car exposed. Great time.

The Euro only showed a couple inches for you and rain by now, so who am I going to believe, a weather model that is never wrong or some jabroni on a weather forum?

I'll definitely let you guys know when it starts raining but it just hasn't happened yet.

The Euro is going to end up cementing itself with this one. All it will take is an event like this to show which model is more superior. UW-WRF was showing 0.

FWIW, credit to the FV3 as well.

Raining in PDX, hopefully the higher hills get a little something to compensate for SEA’s snow dump.

One thing with this type of snow it is it's incredibly heavy. Was out clearing the side walk and a tree branch snapped right next to me.

Stay safe everyone.

Yes, and that's starting to create outages when branches break or bend across power lines.

This afternoon I spent some time whacking ornamental small trees and shrubs with a broom handle. Some of the branches sprang up several feet after I relieved them of their snow load!

It's called clown range for a reason.

Looking at WSDOT cams... looks like warm nose is up to the south side of Bellevue now on 405.   Still snowing at SEA but does not look as heavy.   Just to the north of SEA... its snowing hard.   Still snowing in Maple Valley but looks like its transitioning to rain in Issaquah.

Yeah... 405 north of 520 looks like Snoqualmie Pass!   But appears to be a rain/snow mix in downtown Bellevue and the freeway is just wet.

Downtown Bellevue...

And about 2 miles north in Kirkland...

My son just got home from Snoqualmie Ridge.   I told him he had to get home now or stay there with a friend for the night.

Nothing seems to scare him in terms of driving in the snow... but we walked through the door he said that the drive home was easily the most scared he had ever been while driving.

He said the wind was howling at Snoqualmie Ridge and there are deep drifts everywhere.   And it was a whiteout on I-90 and he was doing 10 mph and could see anything and was not sure where the road was.. and it was the same coming up our hill.    We don't have much wind here though.
