February Snowfalls 2/10-2/12, Part III & IV

Geos

That was nuts. I was bummed to be staying Portland this week because of the snow Seattle is likely to get, but that 5 minute period really took the sting off. Like KI2, that was the heaviest snow I have ever seen. With thunder and lightning and crazy winds. A few potted plants in the backyard tipped over as that cell went through.

Radar is still ripe, have about an inch in less than 30 minutes (I kid you not).

Throwing in the towel? What are your thoughts on tomorrow?

The thing this evening just completely fell through here which put me in a terrible mood so who knows.  I knew this was all too good to be true.

I'm still sitting at less than 2 inches of slop from two separate events going back to last week. You'll be alright.

Nice, looks like some more strong cells are headed your way.

Crazy. Could get an inch or two here.

Honestly, if it isn't going to snow, a 4" in a day downpour is a decent consolation prize. I love when it pours all day long.

EURO only showed a dusting between 4p-10p and it was spot on. Only about 1/4" of snow so far. It shows 4-6" between 10p-4a...Will be interesting to see if that happens.

That snow band missed you? Too bad. I was bummed out about being dry slotted for 8 hours Friday (then the snow bands reconfigured and I got dumped on all night). I guess that's biasing me into assuming the storm might go further south than forecast. It wouldn't take much to do it. Busts happen, and being a little off on the storm track doesn't usually attract much interest because it's usually just all rain regardless.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Cool. So do you think this was the last time we see snow for a while? I take it everything is melting off in a day or so.

I'm not really the person to ask (ask Tim or Jim) but at this juncture, I would venture a downhill slide as far as cold/snowy wx after tomorrow night, Tuesday is #Slushfest2019

.NOW...
A strong front will have the potential to produce a stray
lightning strike across the central and northern Willamette Valley
and adjacent Cascade foothills late this evening. In addition,
snow levels will temporarily lower back down to near the valley
floor in the central and northern Willamette Valley. However, snow
accumulations will primarily be limited to elevations above 1000
feet before snow levels rise even further later tonight.

Changes to the forecast this evening...will scale back on the snow

accumulation numbers over central Puget Sound a touch ( but keep

the winter storm watch up ). Will not give up on the snow

completely for the Central Sound. If you are a snow lover you

can`t be happy with the trend and if you have had enough of the

snow, well now the model trends are now your friend.

Warming trend on Tuesday with the precipitation from about

  Snohomish county southward mostly rain.

The upper level trough appears to stall across the Pacific Tuesday

night into Wednesday keeping low snow levels ( but above the

surface ) in the forecast although the precipitation looks light

  and spotty. Felton
