Most of the dusting that fell earlier has melted off even though it has non stop snowed since 10am because temps are just slightly too warm. Should change once the sun goes down

Except the back edge of the precip is moving steadily east...

18z GFS showing what will likely be the final gasps of winter precip for PDX area tonight. Temps in the 31-32 range with some fairly organized showers and close to ~.10 in of precip. Pretty solid odds that those of you on the west hills or places of elevation are going to get at least an inch. Probably a dusting for the rest.

12 years ago it was 31 degrees warmer in Salem, on this date, at this time.

I was actually just thinking about the pattern 14 years ago. Even more anomalous and close to 40 degrees warmer than this afternoon for many places that first ten days of March.

Could be precip after the front potentially

Not until tomorrow morning.

It will take awhile for onshore flow to ramp up and the instability showers to start moving in.

And they are starting to pop up offshore.

If PDX's high of 35 today holds it will end up being their coldest MAX this winter.

Perfectly timed stratiform precip for a cold max.

could be cold enough if it falls before noon or so we will just have to wait and see. I’m just happy we got a little snow today one last coat of snow for the winter

I thought you would notice so fast!

I thought maybe it was like that for a long time and I just never noticed.   I don't see profile pics on my phone.

March 2005 was pretty great. For some reason I got really into fishing for stocked trout at the St. Louis Ponds near Gervais. In those days I got off work about 2:30p and would go out there and fish until the sun set. Wonderful afternoons spent out there, even caught a few incidental bass which was amazing for so early in the season.

Steady snow falling here at home, but not quite sticking yet. 34*. Snow was trying to stick on Novelty Hill when I left at 2:30. Hoping that it can cool off towards sunset. I know that's what's keeping the temp up a bit.

Moisture wrapping up within next couple hours. Timing could not have been any worse.

Next best chance could be a PSCZ tomorrow night into Friday morning.

Yeah horrible timing. Even if it would have waited until after 4pm, it would have been a lot better than 11am start time.

I remember fishing those as a kid. Isn’t there like seven little ponds there next to I5? I used to catch the trout along with lots of bluegill and crappie. Ever fish the man made pond just north of Woodburn just east of I5?
