It hasn't been normal since she moved there.

Feels like a whole new (MUCH colder and snowier) climate compared to what we signed up for. I’m not complaining though...yet!

Looks like the NWS is now going with 4-7" tomorrow for Bozeman with 1-2" per/hr snowfall rates. Snow ratios should approach 40:1 so it seems possible even with not a whole lot of moisture with this front. I'll go with 3-6" and maybe up to 8" here.

Since the official temp is currently -2 in Craig it is officially the lowest October temp in history. Wednesday is supposed to be a lot colder though so the record probably won't last long.

More than a foot of snow fell yesterday as well.

Snow has already begun again here out ahead of the Arctic front and I'm back home to watch this one unfold.

Currently light to moderate snowfall and 19F.

DEN is forecast to hit -2 later this week. That would shatter the October record of 3.

This is the second historically cold air mass this month. Nov 2014 was the most historically cold event I've ever witnessed, and now that's being equaled twice in one month.

And only the month after the historically hot September. There was not much of a Fall this year; it went from summer to winter quickly.

Edit:  After I made that post, it ended up dropping to -5 at the official station.

Front is passing through here now with very heavy snowfall, strong north wind and plummeting temps.

Wind Chill advisories issued. Wind chill values as low as -25F expected overnight into tomorrow.

Didn’t think I’d ever see that in October... Currently 6F

Currently -8F which is my low so far this morning.

Looks like the Bozeman Airport (BZN) has dropped to -7F so far which is the earliest they have ever been so cold on record there.

Winter was ushered in with a bang this morning in Idaho Falls with a temp of 10 and wind gusts to 45 mph (wind chill around -12). Moderate snow at the same time led to a period of blizzard conditions.

Of note as well Pocatello (PIH) tied their all-time October low (7 degrees) yesterday *without* snow cover. With today's snowfall and winds going light overnight tonight, they'll almost certainly go below zero and potentially break their former October record low by 8-10 degrees!

Snow adds moisture to the air. Dry nights can get colder.

I think a lot of places hit their all time October record.

Here are the ones I know of, but I'm sure there are a lot more:

Rawlins Wyoming = -20

Lander = -10

Buffalo Wyoming = -3

Greybull = 6

Walden Colorado = -13

Craig Colorado = -9

Grand Junction Colorado = 7

Randolph Utah = -23

Deer Creek Dam Utah = 3

Pineview Dam Utah = 2

Logan Radio Utah = 4
Hans Flat Utah = 6

Zion National Park Utah = 13

Salt Lake City Utah = 14

Capitol Reef National Park Utah = 15

Bullfrog Utah = 23

Island Park Idaho = -19

You can add Bozeman Airport (-14) and Livingston MT (-12) to that all time October list as well.

The official high in Craig was only 11.  I believe the previous lowest high temperature was 18.

It's already -8 (8:20 PM), so unless the wind picks up or something the impressive monthly record that was set this morning is going to be broken.

We're a full 16 degrees colder than the same time last night.   If the temperature continues to drop, we could make it into the -20s.

Check out State Summary for Alaska today.    The coldest place in Alaska today was 13.   The warmest was 52.  That also means that the high temperature here in Craig was colder than the lowest temperature in Alaska.

It was -14 again at the Bozeman Airport yesterday morning. Coldest October on record already a lock there. Record keeping began in 1941.

It looks like the Bozeman MSU station will go down as the 3rd coldest October on record behind 1919 and just behind 1925.

Snowing here again... Expecting 1-3" tonight. Roads didn't even have a chance to melt off with all the cold. In fact, we haven't been above freezing since Saturday early morning.

Looks like we'll get a nice warmup this weekend though.

Still solid snow cover around the neighborhood, with temps remaining well below normal. Low 40s this afternoon, which is the warmest day this week.

Been really weird to experience what would be a cold week in mid winter, in late October/early November. I've never seen frozen ponds this early.
