I saw an unofficial temp of -54 at Chester, MT from the National High/Low temp page. If that's verified then that would be their coldest temperature behind January 1950 (-57) and January 1909 (-55). I don't know if the stations are in the same locations though so it could be different.

DEN pulled off a ridiculous 38/-19 day yesterday, as the Arctic event came to an abrupt end. 

Running -12.2 for the month, but of course that will moderate greatly over the coming week or so.

I saw this thread is 10 years old now. Too bad it doesn't see a lot of activity these days. My family in Utah has all been complaining about all the snow they saw the last month.

Even with the massive torch to end the month, DEN ended up with a -3.5 departure for January. Coldest January since...2023, which was -6.7.

In an uncanny repeat of last week, models once again are struggling mightily with a potential snowstorm this weekend. Although unlike last Saturday, temps this time don't look to be the issue, available moisture does.

The GFS, ICON, and Euro are showing about 2" for Denver, the CMC 5", and the NAM 10".

Picked up another 3" on Saturday, bringing my total up to 8" on the month and 29" on the year. Running about 70% of average.

El Nino history suggests at least one big storm (10"+) is quite likely in March/April.

Picked up another 2.5" last night. Looks like that might be it for awhile.

Yep, WSW for 6-12". The 6z GFS spit out 15-24" for Denver metro.

Nice couple of maps from the NWS of the 3/14-3/15 snowstorm. It was the biggest snowstorm for the metro since the March 2021 blizzard, which also occurred on Pi Day (see video and pic below). That one brought 20-30" to most of the area.

Picked up 5" of dry powder last night (as opposed to the 15" of wet concrete a week and a half ago).

Up to 22" for March, 54" on the season.

DEN put up a -.2 departure in March. Two out of three months below normal so far this year, definitely better than I was expecting.
