Yeah nothing compared to Browning that is for sure! Nonetheless, still a record breaking low, high temp day with 35F at the Airport. This breaks 1983 daily record of 40F. Still waiting on Bozeman MSU number to come in but I think they either broke or tied their 1925 record of 34F. Daily high and lows look to continue to be broken these next couple of days as well from 1985 and 1950.

30F/24F day here which is by far the earliest sub-freezing high I've had since moving here.

How much snow have you gotten?

Just incredible for September. Glad we winterized our irrigation last week!

Some heavy snow bands have set up here this evening with 4” in the last 3 hours and still dumping out there.

Currently 28F after a high of 32F. Over 53 consecutive hours below freezing now. What a way to close out September.

Kind of a potent but quick hitting front moving in here today. Looks like a heavy band of rain quickly changing to snow around commute time this evening. Could pick up a quick 1-3" of snow but we'll see. Windy, wet and a raw 42F currently.

Strong cold front looks to move in here Tuesday evening with plummeting temps and a nice burst of snow through Wednesday. Too early to pin down snowfall amounts but at this point it looks like it could be pretty significant for early October.

12z models and ensembles are incredibly cold for this time of year beginning Tuesday night through Thursday. 700mb temps get as a low as -18C and surface temps reach the low single digits. I wouldn't be surprised to see even some below zero readings with that pattern depending on how much of a snow pack there is and whether skies clear enough.

Operational and ensemble models all show at least 6-10" of snowfall in Bozeman as well so that is probably a good forecast at this point.

00z ECMWF shot out a record low of -1F on Friday morning. Would be the earliest below zero reading on record with the next closest date being October 25th 1919.

This trough is looking more and more impressive with each model run.

Winter Storm Watch issued by the NWS for here. Looks like they are going with 8-12" of snowfall in Bozeman. Looks like a pretty good forecast at this point to me. Probably looking at 10-15" on my roof.

This is going to be a fun one to track both in snowfall totals and just how cold we get. It's definitely going to make a run at 1919 and 1985 records.

Watch and been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. Highs around 60F today and tomorrow before the bottom drops out tomorrow night. Highs look to stay in the mid 20's on both Wednesday and Thursday with heavy snowfall at times totally 8-12" in Bozeman and windchills dropping as low as 20 below zero with blowing snow.

GFS and ECMWF ensembles now show lows dropping below zero Thursday and Friday morning which would be the earliest below zero reading on record in Bozeman.

That will be a massive one day drop.

My first experience with such a huge drop in the fall/winter! I'll find out what perennial flowers are REALLY hardy! So far the minor freezes haven't fazed them and it's got as low as 28*.  Lows are supposed to get into the upper teens.

Warm and windy early morning sitting at 56F out ahead of the front. Could reach up into the mid 60's this afternoon before temps come crashing down this evening.

Looks like the final snowfall forecast is 8-12" in Bozeman and 12-18" here south of town in my yard. We tend to do a lot better than town in these setups with a strong northerly upslope flow.

We ended up getting up to 67F here yesterday before the Arctic front moved through here around 7pm last night with plummeting temps. Waking up to 19F this morning and moderate snowfall. Temps shouldn't come up too much so we're looking at a nearly 50 degree temp change over the past 24 hours. Gotta love fall in the Northern Rockies!

Haven't been outside yet but looks like 3-4" of snow so far.

Should be a fun 2 days for Denver. Summer to winter in one day.

Yeah, the warm before the storm is normal here, but this is a fairly extreme example. Temps now expected to go from near 80 to mid 20s in about 24 hours.

Plenty of cold records should fall around the region as well.

A forum for the end of the world.

Just dumping snow here now and still only 19 degrees with windchills in the single digits. About 6-7" of snowfall on the day now.

Morning commute was a bit dicey to say the least!
