Interested in chance for a tornado or two in E IA tomorrow. Pacific front/acting dryline should initiate showers/storms that could produce tornadoes as they cross the warm front/pinched warm sector. Classic cold core. As such, the ceiling of the event depends on clearing/destabilization. There’s no shortage of shear though, so that shouldn’t be an issue. HRRR has been illustrating this potential fairy well.

As our focus remains on the historic Blizzard raging across the Plains and Upper Midwest, there are Back-to-Back Cutters in the works next week starting this Sun/Mon and again mid/late next week as our Sub Forum continues to be the highlight region of interest in the foreseeable future.  Last nights 00z EPS starting to look more interesting for those of us in the MW/GL's who want to see some more Spring Snow (or not).  This may not be the last chance of seeing repeated wintry systems this month as the colder pattern is pretty much locked in across the majority of our Sub.  I'm beginning to wonder if it will snow across the norther tier for Easter this year which comes a bit late this year (21st).  The likelihood of it being rather cold for the holiday is high.

North Texas always gets a cold snap around Easter, even late ones surprise us.

I saw some of the video coming out of the Dakotas this morning. Really a powerful storm system.

Visibility was down to a matter of a few feet on the road with high winds. Amazing weather system.

The NAM just joined the Euro for Sunday, drops good snow across eastern Iowa into Wisconsin.  The precip shield is shown to arrive first thing Sunday morning, which should help with the snow production vs rain.

No.Tx will have some heavy rain move through Fri night through Sat.

I haven’t heard firm total forecast but some suggest an inch of rain. Well, it IS Spring.

Amazing how Waterloo got pummeled with snow and then dead stop at 0.3" from setting the record while snow continues to fall everywhere else.

I had 47.9" as of Feb 20th.  I'm still stuck at 49.9".

Season total after this snowstorm is 77” for MSP. We need 2” inches to surpass the total from last winter. The average is 54”.

MSP also cracked the top 10 snowiest Aprils. Eau Claire has set a new all-time winter snowfall total with 91.3”

Pretty impressive when you consider how little snow we had right through January.

The last 2 winters we’ve had around 10” season to date on January 1. These super backloaded winters have been intense. Maybe we can spread it out a little next winter.

I've had enough of this howling wind.  It has been going for more than two days.

The wind has eased here significantly today. It did do a great job of clearing my trees of their small to medium sized dead branches. Bon Fire season is a few weeks away and I will have plenty of kindling.

We only got it for part of today and that was annoying enough.
