Not sure how much snow as fallen the temperature is still at 33.4° (more has fallen then has accumulated) but here at my house there is now a solid one inch of snow cover. It is now on the grass, roofs, trees and now even on the road and sidewalk. With today's snow fall Grand Rapids will go above average for the month of April. Today may set a new record for snow fall for April 14th (1.6" is the record for today) and for the 2018/19 season we will have to see just how close Grand Rapids gets to 80.0" As before today's snow it was at 77.1"

Nice way to end the season, Tom. Congrats! And the best part is that it’ll all be gone in a few days.

Exactly!  No need to shovel this heavy stuff.  I'm enjoying the view from inside while cooking up a big pot of soup.  I'm not kidding, you could fool me and say its early Winter out there.  Snow blowing sideways, at times, almost whiteout conditions.  I'm at 3.2" but I think we'll fall short of the 5.4" needed to tie the all-time record for greatest April 14th or later snowstorm.

Really intense rates right now.

I'm at 4.5" and this stuff is easily 1"+/hr rates...I think we have a shot at breaking the record at ORD today.  What a treat this storm has been.

Edit: Makes up for all the misses this season as I've seen +SN, Thundersnow, Blowing Snow, near whiteout conditions...pretty much sums up today.

I now have 2.5" of snow on the ground here at my house the temperature is still at 33 so this is a very wet snow to say the least. Still getting moderate to almost heavy snow fall at this time. This is a lot of snow to fall during the day in mid April. And it is still very windy as well.

Congrats to all of you in IL with the snow!

Tom, or other IL posters, what does this snowfall bring your season total to?

.

46-47” for ORD...let’s see what the final tally is for this storm...should be right around 47”

Yep. Headlines miss by ONE county to my NW (again). 34F with a WC of 25F spitting spray on nasty NE winds. Just downright awful bs wx as I had called. Hate to be correct again (there were those around here that thought we'd get this snowstorm), but this has been consistently the theme. Just came home from visiting a relative east of Columbus, OH where it was 70F and a gorgeous spring Saturday. Rain hit overnight and it was kinda damp today but still 30 deg's warmer than here. Flowers and trees are much further along than around here. Hopefully we'll catch-up after this last hurrah of winter.

This has been a stubborn track. Hopefully, next Winter we score! Tbh, I really though your area was going to get hit by a snowstorm w this LP area, but, it did not happen again.

we got some really heavy lake effect last night. It was unreal, the heaviest snow I've seen by a long shot. So cool to see how it was a mile wide band that I was just getting buried under. Grass already coming back out and looking greener than ever -- i guess on the bright side, snow this late always makes the grass nice and green right after.

I am kind of pissed at the SPC though. I was all excited about that outbreak this week and now they took us out completely of the slight risk area. Lameeeee :(

Yet another surprise from this potent late season storm.  I was pretty amazed to see both waves of the Lake enhancing totals across the city.  You can see on this loop that there were 2 separate waves: Lehs and then the secondary LES band that hugged the shoreline.  I couldn't add the gif file bc it was to large, but you can click on this link to see it better.  It must have been pounding your place with that 2nd band.
