I woudn't mind living in eastern Oklahoma.  I would see plenty of storms and heavy rain, which I love.  The panhandle would be too boring.

This is one year I wish I had my own rain gauge. With the localized drought this summer, I'm certain my numbers would be much lower than most. Even those official sites nearby like KBTL

Preliminary amounts being .10-.20 below 75" for 1-1-2019 to 12-31-2019 here would likely make it calendar year tied for #2 or the number one wettest year in my county's history.

What a way to close out a decade that began with standing heatwaves, persistent 20-plus-month droughts, dried lakes, streams and rivers, along with wildfires in our region. Began with tornadoes here in Eastern Ok and ended on the same note in that regard. What a year 2019 was!

Very detailed page from GRI. I wish OAX would do stuff like this. Dannebrog, Nebraska (north of Grand Island) had 49.46" this year. That's really crazy for so far west, it's probably about double the average.

Heres a highlight for everyone....

"St. Paul (WETTEST out of 124...19.15" above normal!)

- Ravenna (WETTEST out of 127...17.19" above normal!)

- Arcadia 2W (WETTEST out of 124)"

Goodness! That's a long standing set of records.

I wish all nws offices would do a "Year In Review" each year and a decade each decade as well. They help me fill the holes in my memory sometimes when I research.

My reporting station at Holdrege, which is east of town at the airport, recorded 36.96” which is almost 10 inches above normal. This map actually has the town at 40-45”. My personal gauge at my house was over 42” for the year. Obviously not official, but we know how amounts can vary over a relatively short distance. I concur, I love that NWS Hastings does this. They will at some point put out the yearly snowfall map.

Yep, to dry all along the high plains = boring. Eastern Ok. and Ks. can be wild, but also have long dry/hot periods sometimes in the summer, more so than Iowa. I sometimes think I'ld like living in OKWX's area.

I absolutely love my area, honestly. I just wish sometimes I could move it somewhere where it snows 12"+ as an average and 3" as a 1 in 10 year minimum.

Even in the summer here, if you hate heat and humidity, there's forests, caves, creeks, lakes everywhere here. Something within 10 miles anyway.

I gripe a good bit but if it wasn't for all of the wacky and dynamic weather in this little area, I wouldn't have the love and awe but great respect of the weather I do.

So far at the Omaha Eppley Airfield reporting station, the total precipitation for the year so far is at 7.28 inches... which is 5.09 inches below normal (12.37 is the normal through June 7th).

Really hoping we can score the 1 to 3 inches of rain predicted for tomorrow and Wednesday, because it doesn't look like there will be much more rainfall in the region for a while after that (with cooler temperatures thankfully though)... that's a perfect recipe for the beginning of a drought  :(

Yes, unfortunately, that's something I've been looking at since spring.

This will probably be the last "Garden of Eden" summer here for a few years also. Lots of changes underway.

My area can still use some rainfall. It has been continuously dry and I think we are in the "Abnormally Dry Catogory."

Drought monitor came in yesterday and it reads SEMI in the "Moderately Dry Cat." Hopefully the CF coming on Monday can provide some needed rainfall because it stays dry afterwards for the rest of July.

The climate sure dries up when you head west into the plains.  I'm glad I live where it storms/rains/snows more regularly.

23.63" in Lincoln for 2020 which makes it the driest year since 2012. Not too surprising to see the pendulum swing back after three consecutive years of 35"+, but it'd been a pretty bad drought for much of the state.
