Yeah... it would be awesome to get an inch of rain on some night during the work week every week and then every weekend was like this all summer. Best of both worlds!

Would be great if life was that perfect but Mother Nature likes to give us rain at inconvenient times

Drainage project started, yard widening, and trail constructed for future fence-line. It can rain all winter now, my yard will be ready!

Always nice to see some Duck gear in Husky territory. We do have the bragging rights in both of the revenue sports so we may as well enjoy the hell out of it because I doubt we have them after this fall.

Lots of nice towns on Whidbey.

There are. I was more impressed by the rural setting of a lot of the island.

Marine layer this morning... but cloud bases are high and its quite thin.    Not the same foggy marine layer that we on some mornings in the last week.

00Z ECMWF is drier than the 12Z run up here.

7-day total per 12Z run...

And new 00Z run...

Latest run is rather wet out this way and for northern Alberta where they really need it.

Cold Season 2023/24:

Total snowfall: 26"

Highest daily snowfall: 5"

Deepest snow depth: 12"

Coldest daily high: -20ºF

Coldest daily low: -42ºF

Before they irrigated the Columbia Basin in the 30s and 40s, some of the San Juan islands used to be Washington’s bread basket. Especially Whidbey and Lopez.

How’s the smoke situation in your area?

I think the Alberta smoke has mostly been heading into the Midwest... and even that appears to be mostly gone this morning.

We had one day with some hazy skies but it all pushed out rather quickly. Think its been much worse in the Midwest though.

you should definitely check out the San Juan’s and some of the towns in the north interior if you haven’t already. Some of the most beautiful places in Washington are up there in my opinion.

55 and cloudy this morning. Nws forecast discussion made mention of snow levels at or below 5,000ft this weekend with high temps in the upper 50s to low 60s. Could be the last time we see snow levels this low for 4-5 months.

The San Juan Islands are the jewel of Washington.   I love it up there.

I went up there on March 5th this year to the top of Mt.Constitution when they had 2’ of snow on the ground still. Was an awesome experience!

I have probably seen more of Western Washington the past 2-3 years than I ever have before. It is nice. I could definitely live in W. Washington as long as I was outside of the immediate Seattle area. I went to Pullayup a couple months ago and was surprised that it seemed like a decent town, everyone on here always acts like it is a total dump.

I think the criticism of Puyallup on here is primarily related to its inability to get snow in the winter.

Pretty much everywhere in Western Washington is great except for Seattle. Other than that once you head south of Tacoma, north of Everett or east of Lake Washington it’s nice. There’s a select few nice places in the Seattle suburbs however. I do like living in north Tacoma.

Embarrassing. Hoquiam too.

Washington’s coastal cities are kind of lame in my opinion. Run down and depressing. Oregon’s coastal cities are much better in my opinion.

Aberdeen is a cess pool of drugs and transients, glad we live outside of town but the vagrants have been in the move.

Between the crappy weather and all the other issues there... its just a seriously depressing place in every regard.

Just realized that last month was PDX's third warmest May on record (behind 1992 and last year). We seem to pop those top 5 warm months like Pez candy these days.

At least it wasn't as ridiculously dry as last year, about ten times more rain at PDX last month than May 2018. But still below average. I can already tell things are running a little greener than last year at this time, with (hopefully) another nice soaking on the way later this week. But the Euro isn't on board.
