July 2019 Observations and Discussion

Rain coming down pretty good here. Not much in the way of severe weather, but the rain is really nice.

HRRR shows the redevelopment up to the northwest sliding down into the area later this afternoon into this evening.

Could happen, but I don't even know if it's worth looking at the HRRR. I don't remember the last time that model did well with storms around here.

The line began to break up a bit as it passed through.  I've only picked up a couple tenths.  I was one of the big winners last evening, so any additional rain today is good.

Highs of 98* and lows of 77* for the next five days. Zzzzz

The weekend may see a high of 92 with a 20% chance of rain.

Boring.

This humidity is disgusting. 74 dew here and dews are close to 70 in the Nebraska Panhandle which is very uncommon. I see Omaha has hit 76 dew and KC 78. I just don’t see how people can live with this type of humidity for long stretches of time. I guess if you live in the tropics you are close to water.

The new development west of Cedar Rapids should mostly miss south.

Is that an outflow boundary I see setting up ft dodge to Spencer area? Or an I seeing something else?

I don't see anything.

Hello from Toledo!

Had on-and-off showers over the past few days and a couple rumbles of thunder yesterday from Barry. Friday and Saturday, we could see our first back-to-back 100s since 1988. Fun stuff to move into here to. More pleasant weather will rear its head next week, at least. 89.6*F.

Yikes, a close lightning strike just now.

One time I remember looking out my office window during a really strong thunderstorm and suddenly this lightning came so close to my window that I literally jump couple of feet away. Thats how much it startled me.

My location will be hotter here than where you are. How about that!  Near 100F for 2 straight days and then cooling off in the 70s for highs next week. Cannot wait for that relief. It will feel awesome. Lows will be in the 50s.

There's a 40º difference in heat index between se NE/sw IA and here.  It's awful out west.

Yeah to bad I didn’t get a strong storm. JUST 0.16” is all. Wow that was a tiny shower! Seems like these big lines just don’t deliver like they used to years ago. I’m really not confident on any storms tonight and the NWS isn’t either, and no one really knows.

Current conditions at the Millard Airport here on the southwestern side of Omaha at 4:55pm - which is about one mile from where I live...

97 air temp

80 dewpoint

Heat Index of 118!!!  :o

It absolutely feels like a sauna outside, to all you lucky ducks out east that got some rain and storms today... this is what you are missing and I bet you are jealous LOL.
