chescowxman
We picked up 0.22" of much needed rain overnight here in East Nantmeal. Temperatures have continued to fall this morning since sunrise as a cold front passed through earlier this AM. Clouds will give way to sun this afternoon with temps at just about normal for mid April in the low to mid 60's. Below normal temps should remain through Wednesday with temps much of the time remaining in the 50's with near 60 by Wednesday. westMJim
Yesterday the official H/L at Grand Rapids was 39/32. That 39 was reached just after midnight so much of the day was in the mid 30’s and snow fall off and on all day long. There was 0.19” of precipitation of that .04” was snow fall. There was just 1% of sunshine. Yesterday’s official high of 39 was the 5th coldest high for any April 17th the snow fall of 0.4” was the 3rd snowiest for the date. And after the record warmth of the week before it felt just that much colder. For today the average H/L is 59/38 the record high of 86 was set in 1977,2002 and 2004. The record low of 22 was set in 1926 and 1983. The record snow fall of 3” fell in 1912. Last year it was a cold 37/32 and 0.3” of snow fell. That 37 was the 2nd coldest high for any April 18 so it was cold at this time last year as well. The overnight low here in MBY was 31 and at the current time it is 32 and there is a trace of snow on the ground.

Tom
ORD picked up a "stat padding" 0.4" of snow yesterday and that will be enough to crack the 20" mark for the season! Snow fall in now becoming rather rare. There has only been 4 years with measurable snow fall on this date and only 10 years with a trace or more. There will be a warm front moving thru today and with that there is a chance of some rain and thunder. Tomorrow there should be a brief warm up into maybe the upper 70’s before another big cool down for the end of the week and the start of next week and there is a chance of rain and yes snow for the week end
chescowxman
Some of the lower spots across the county saw sub-freezing temps this AM. Here in East Nantmeal we made it down to 33.4 degrees. Our last freezing morning was on April 9th...could that one and today in lower spots be our last such reading until October or November? I will post growing season stats later. We should warm back to about normal levels this afternoon (low 60's) before a big warm up to close the week.
