Been lucky enough to go to 5 big league ballgames in my life. There's nothing like experiencing it in person. Taking your glove to the game, buying beers etc.

It probably won't work out this way... at least for the second map... but the ECMWF shows temps completely flipping next week with western WA warmer than down here in Charleston.    If it verifies... we definitely picked the right week to be in the SE and then the next week back home.

Andrew's favorite topic... looks like the MJO just barely gets into phase 1 which is really favorable for western ridge in MAM and then collapses back to the middle.   Ridging probably won't last long.    If its going to make the loop through phases 5, 6, and 7 again in May then expect a return to troughing.

Everything is packed… Sounds like a place I would avoid… As I head to Chicago in a few days. 🤦‍♂️

I’m with you there. Never have cared much for crowds and busyness but I seem to get worse with that aspect of things the older I get. Costco at anytime except for 7pm on a weeknight is a NOPE! Going to Lowe’s…8am on a Sunday morning, or NO WAY! Going to the grocery store…Evenings or early on Sunday morning only. Don’t want to deal with traffic or people…I like wide open and few people. Going to Eastern Washington…Go when everyone is busy with end of school stuff and graduations or during the week. We had the lovely park to ourselves…Just the way I like it!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I don’t remember 2011 at all… but this April has been impressively chilly for average highs for first 18 days. Despite that, 2011 still beat this year out by 1F.

Last April’s also on this list but mostly thanks to the 60 and 73 days on the 6th and 7th. Otherwise last April was also top tier cold. We haven’t come close to that territory this year yet.

One more note about April 2011… the month ended with an average high of 52.2F. That was an incredibly chilly and wet month. And apparently we had no summer to follow.

Really hoping we break away from 2011 starting now... that was a Nina year from start of finish so quite different than this year.

Frost here! Not our latest on record, surprisingly. Last May we had some as well!

Good morning, all. This upcoming heatwave is going to prevent April from joining the ranks of last year or 2011, but at least there's some semblance of the 'other side of the coin' when it comes to our weather patterns. A heatwave seems somewhat earned.

Would feel more earned though if we didn't just smash a bunch of heat records last Summer and Fall. ;) Now it feels more like torch->chilly->torch, which admittedly is a huge improvement over torch->torch->torch.

Calling 2011 a year with no summer is pretty silly. August and September were both solidly warm. There have been many years in the past that are much more deserving of that title.

Summer 1954 is pretty deserving, at least at KSEA. The warmest it got was 80F flat, which only occurred on a couple days. The summer itself averaged less than 60F, if you can believe it.

Pretty interesting that it will be another chilly and rainy day here after having a freeze this morning. Every other frost or freeze I have seen this late in the season is followed by a warm day as we transition from a trough to a ridge.

Leaf out is happening gradually, but on the whole trees are about the barest I’ve ever seen them on April 20th.

That was a cold one regionwide. Only summer in history that PDX didn’t hit 90 at least once. Max of just 86 that summer.

1954 is definitely the king of summers without summers in the PNW, at least in the airport era. Interestingly it was also an absolutely roasting summer out in the plains. Like dust bowl 2.0 status.

Freezing again this morning. #10 on the month I believe. Yesterday was 38/33 with 0.42” of mostly non sticking snow or grapuel.
