August 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

My wife had her's out in February. She didn't even have to stay the night, which was amazing. The bill was still about $43,000. Thank goodness for decent insurance, but price gouging is real! One of the reasons I support Medicaid for all...Or some sort of single payer system.

I was told that it would be mostly covered by insurance.

The IOD has surpassed +1 for the first time since 2015.

Irrespective of the niño 3.4 number, the IO/Indo-Pacific waters are clearly behaving in more of an El Niño-type manner, and this may be significant as the summer monsoonal trough winds down over the next few months and the coupling conduits/structures begin to change over the tropical EHEM.

So...what does this mean?

Glad to hear you are on the mend! A big fear of mine is going under the knife...Never have been. Never have been put under for any procedure.

That is impressive... Think I'm up to 11 general anesthesia procedures now with I believe around 14 broken bones.

Quite a worrying situation in southern Oregon. Abundant dry lightning possible tomorrow, very hot temps (above 100),. gusty winds, low humidity, dry fuels...

Definitely a bullet dodged with the lack of bursting. That s**t can get very real very quickly. Makes the recovery a lot more extensive too with the continuing risk of sepsis.

I think I blacked out my experience. But I know it was 7 days in the hospital and a couple days in the ICU. No fun.

Yeah I think our out of pocket was like 2K, obviously varies based on individual plans. So the hospital is really gouging the insurance companies, which is reflected in premiums paid either by the individual or employer.

Disgusting but cool. How long after the accident was that picture?

This was 6 days after the accident. I thought I could treat myself.

I sent the pic to my sister, who's a doctor and she told me to go straight to the ER if I didn't want to lose my middle finger.

It was good advice.

Wow! Yeah the biggest procedure I have ever had would be my wisdom teeth removal, but all the dentist did was shoot me up with Novocain and then proceeded to chisel/hammer them out. At one point his knee was resting next to my head so he could have better leverage! Other than that...been lucky so far!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It may "start" dry according to what Medford has been saying. There are quite impressive PWAT's being shown later as storms continue. Besides I think most of the dry storms concern the lowlands, the east sides usually get good soakings out of August t'storm setups.

12Z ECMWF shifted north with the rain for Thursday... I am sure it will end up being primarily a King County event as usual.

Hoquiam is up to 89 currently, blew right past the forecasted high by NWS of 84. They always prog way too low for the 1st 2 days of heat there, tomorrow is forecast to be 78, would not be surprised to see them hit 85 or higher and then cool a bit throughout the afternoon.

90 here currently.

How many death camps up there though?

A lot. It’s a scary time.

I think they are doing away with msp premiums soon which means it will all be “hidden” in our taxes which I’m actually not a huge fan of.

Anyways not nearly as hot up this way today. Only low 80s or so.
