September 2019 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Except for PDX, who someone was ironically complaining about earlier being the worst spot in the metro for snowfall.

I did say earlier PDX was the worst during snowstorms-- but only because it seems so unrepresentative of what most of the metro area is experiencing. Sometimes it'll do great in comparison, other times it'll do far, far, worse.

We drove through the Parkrose area of Portland a couple hours ago. There was like a half inch of hail along the freeway.

We went through about 5:30 and it was still drifted and the ground still white. Reminded me of the storm over in Rosemere a couple-three years ago.

I haven’t seen a hail event like that since 10/12/17 up here. Had a white coat of hail on everything after 30~ constant minutes of pea sized hail. Had a decent hail event on 11/27/18 but nothing like that.

Now I can say that I have gone jetsking, did some landscaping, and BBQ’d during an Arctic blast! Though I did BBQ during last February’s festivities!

Currently 46 degrees.

That thunder made the house rattle.

Heck of a storm. Frequent lightning and lots of hail. Dropped the temp to 48.

Haze with a dewpoint of 71*F here. Epic!!!

Reese's would be my second choice. Also have a special soft spot in my heart for Airheads.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried airheads either. Though I probably have one between by shoulders anyway, lol.

I think we have the same BBQ. Home Depot? There were a few diehards out jet skiing and water skiing on Shawnigan Lake this afternoon.

I would have thought you have tried everything that can could possibly be tried in the whole world.

Guess I have some work to do in the candy department.

Is it spelled liquorich or liquorish? I’m not sure I’ve ever tried to write or type that word before, haha.

That trough in the 8 to 10 period is looking colder all the time.  The first third of October looks pretty darn chilly overall.

Yep! Got it at Home Depot last year after we bought our new place.

Liquor comes from the ancient European words associated with 'liquid'

Licorice comes from "gluco-root" literally 'sugar root'

Northern Montana is getting slammed...This was taken in East Glacier 6 hours ago. Easily approaching over 3ft up there now.

Crazy to see that much already, it looked like the heaviest stuff wasn't primed to hit until tomorrow. Either way there are still may hours of snowfall left in those parts.

Yeah I think we will see the 30s here those nights. 52 here right now probably will still get into the upper 40s by early morning. Still think 36-39 degrees tomorrow and Monday is possible.

The EC forecast for SW Alberta is pretty crazy:

Heavy snowfall will continue over southwestern Alberta tonight. With continued upslope flow through the weekend, most regions will see significant amounts of snowfall. Total accumulations will approach 40 to 50 centimetres by Monday morning with extreme southwestern portions of Alberta possibly approaching 100 centimetres. The snowfall will taper off during the day Monday when the snow moves into Saskatchewan.

1972 is probably the only September trough / ULL that compares to this one in recent times.  This is pretty epic.  Some of the mountains in WA are going to get an insane amount of snow also.
