SilverFallsAndrew
the left gone wild! It is really sad. I know there are several UW parents on here, and if I were one of them this would give me pause. Unfortunately we have seen a dramatic transformation on the left and in academia over the past decade. I fear this will only continue to get worse and act to divide us. Dr. Mass is a true scientist who is interested in the truth. SilverFallsAndrew
What is really frightening when you read accounts like those of Dr. Mass and Jordan Petersen, is the seemingly depraved indifference and lack of humanity of the university administration. At best they throw up their hands and admit they are powerless to stop the baying hounds running wild on the moors. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! SilverFallsAndrew
It is a societal shift of entitlement that is unwarranted in our country, but yet here we are. I think it is deeper than that however. I think a lot of it starts in the public education system. We now have several generations of parents who have ceded child rearing to the state. Not only with the basics of how to read and write, but how to view sex, race, gender, social situations, inequity, or perceived inequity, history, etc... That is only the tip of the iceberg, but definitely a part of it 4 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! The left is on the warpath now, it could just as easily be the other way around. When we were growing up the 'left' or whatever we call them the sane Democrat party weren't anything like now. Now they are regressive leftists radicalized by socialism and communism. They are intentionally ignoring everyone's constitutional and individual rights as if we didn't have a constitution at all, which is what they want. God forbid they ever gain total power in our country we are beyond doomed. We need a complete overhaul of our universities and education system. Any professor, dean, board member, faculty or teacher who teaches wrong-think thought police tactics not allowing free speech or the exchange of ideas must be abolished removed immediately. Once we can accomplish that(and maybe I'm crazy, but I know we can), only then can we begin to reverse this new destructive ideology. We must remove this new era of activism in our society too. Through harassment, threats, and intimidation they have been allowed to throw their weight around influencing everything from politics to sports now. 6z GFS in 5 hours 5 minutes

SilverFallsAndrew
new generation of kids coming up makes me really scared for what the future holds to be honest. People are a lot different now than back when my parents were kids. I was raised with strict parents and was taught values and right and wrong. I am glad for that now that I’m out of high school and living on my own. Lot of kids my age are still living with their parents jobless wanting everything to be handed to them. I’m glad I was raised the way I was, these kids with no role models for parents are too sensitive, have no moral values and expect everything that everything should be free and handed to them. I was raised in a pretty strict, but loving environment. My parents poured a lot into their children and all in all we turned into modestly productive adults. And we all learned how to think independently. I am definitely the most conservative of the kids, my brother closest to me is slightly right of center, my youngest brother is apathetic, and my sister is a bit to the left of center. 3 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Gradient Keeper
In my experiences the past roughly 4-5 years I've found that there are good and reasonable liberals, conservatives, independents, centrists, libertarians, whom you can discuss a myriad of topics with and even if you do not see eye-to-eye on everything, you leave the discussion or debate with civility often on mutual ground, or you respectfully agree to disagree. However, there are absolutely no good or reasonable regressive leftists and progressives. Not a single one. If there is disagreement they are terribly uncivil resorting to insults, name calling, lies, slander, and have no sense of sanity, rationality, common sense, nor morals or values while subjugating their own twisted version of morality upon everyone. SilverFallsAndrew
My wife has told me until she met me and her former boss (Who she met around the same time as me.), she had never actually known someone who was openly conservative, and had no idea what conservative or libertarian ideas were. It was not that she had rejected them, she had never been exposed to them. I think that is one of the big differences for many people who grow up in a conservative home, I was bombarded with liberal messages every time I turned on the television, watched a movie, worked for some of my mom's colleagues (She was an educator.). 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! SilverFallsAndrew
I think you're reading too much into the term "progressive". That technically means change...but it has nothing to do with the intolerant BS that Cliff Mass and others have witnessed first hand. I would also note the demographic of this forum is disproportionately seeing the negative effects of our present "change." I'm probably a little far off in the weeds on this one though... 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill! Geos
Had some sun today, some rain and a little wind. High of 61 today and so far a low of 50. Little warmer than recent nights. Noticing a lot of tree color now. snow_wizard
Great thoughts being shared about our political woes right now. Pretty interesting to hear that Cliff Mass is even getting into the fray. At any rate....next week's trough is looking like a classic to bring some pretty chilly low temps and probably one or two pretty crisp max temps as well. I'm not one bit surprised to see yet another nice looking trough trying to set up in the 8 to 10 day period now. At least the first half of this month is going to be very much to my liking I think. 3 Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! SilverFallsAndrew
I was more alluding to what others have said not just tonight but in the past as well where I usually keep tight lipped. I agree on the Cliff Mass BS. Change is definitely something people view differently. But I think sometimes we can err when we assume the reasons for this. Some people view all social change as bad, some view it almost entirely as good, some view it as more of a mixed bag. That is probably where I fall in. I think we've made tremendous strides in many areas of social inequality, but in a counter intuitive way we have given up a lot of those gains culturally since about 2012. That's probably a much longer topic for another day. But I think many of us on the right see what appears to be an organized effort by academia and certain "WOKE" circles to completely undermine and defame the history and the path which we believe made us the greatest nation which has ever existed and brought unparalleled opportunity not only to our citizens, but immigrants, and even people across the world. Very few people would say we have been blameless or there were not bumps in the road, but throwing the baby out with the bathwater is very concerning. As well as the underlying unease that when a group assumes social and political hegemony through force, trickery, or shaming, they tend to turn very quickly and vengefully on their enemies. That holds true right or left. Dr. Mass is feeling that right now. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill!
