wx_statman
So why was it not posted in March if it's so interesting? Well, I have other obligations in life besides posting on this forum. If I had the time, energy, and desire to post this information on March 1st - maybe I would have. The beauty of online forums (and the internet in general!) is that this information can be referenced years down the road. Think of it as a page in a history book - it doesn't have to be published immediately in order to still make for interesting reading years later...

SilverFallsAndrew
Not sure. Had to be over 60 inches. Here was peak depth on 2/12... this was over 40 inches on the ground. Over the years I have noticed you seem to get a lot of really massive snow dumps. Aside from a couple events in 2012, it seems like we get a fair amount of 6-10" storms and a ton of 1-2" snowfalls. I would guess over the past 8 years you have averaged about 50" a year, which is a decent amount more than me. But I would also guess I have had more days with accumulating snow. But it seems like you have had several of these massive 15-20" dumps of snow. Could just be my perception, who knows. Could also be you get the C-zone which focuses precip on your area. It also surprises me you do not keep personal weather stats for your location. It also surprises me you do not keep personal weather stats for your location. Not sure... the really big snow events here are usually the result of warm, moist air overrunning a persistent cold, east wind coming through the pass. That is what happened in some of our really big events like Dec 2007, Dec 2008, Jan 2012, and Feb 2019. There are probably more that I am forgetting. We get lots of smaller snow events too (3-8 inches)... that often come with c-zones which overachieve in marginal air masses. And then we have years when there is almost no snow at all... like 2004-05, 2013-14, and 2014-2015. And not sure why I don't have station. There are stations close by so I know exactly what is happening. Just seems tedious and not worth the effort. SilverFallsAndrew
Here we ended up with 52.2" of snow in February. The park officially measured 26.5" which is definitely on the low side, but they have been doing quite a bit better recording snow the past few years. When I moved up here it seemed like they were only recording snowfall during the significant events. I would estimate they probably had 35-40 inches at the South Falls location, they definitely had less than here being about 300' lower, but certainly more than half as much.
