00z GFS sure looks nice. Have no faith that will verify though.

Would be quite a blessing for the holiday weekend. Tim needs to start researching escape options in the Yakima area.

Getting a nice cool down after such a prolonged (unprecedented) stretch of early season heat would make a lot of sense. But hard to imagine us getting that lucky. Plus Fill thinks it won’t happen.

Credit where credit is due, he nailed the mid-May heatwave. That being said it would be unprecedented for him to continue this run of quasi-accuracy.

Lmao.

I don’t doubt a quick cooldown but I don’t think it’ll last long. More like a head fake followed by another week or so of ridging, then after that a more zonal/progressive pattern with some staying power.

I was working at the PCC on Aurora/Greenlake at the time. I snuck out to watch the whole thing in the parking lot. One of the best lightning storms I've ever witnessed. Intense, loud, closeby bolts of lightning. I was right in the epicenter. Still can't believe I didn't get fired...and I stayed another 2 years there!

What dept. at PCC?

9/7/19....a day that will forever be in my memory.  My commencement ceremony was earlier that day, and we had just finished eating at Fogo de Chao in Bellevue, and I had racked up a respectable bar tab....feeling no pain.  I caught the first few flashes of lightning as dinner was finishing up, and by the time I got up from the table, the storm was overhead.  I stood out on the sidewalk cheering on each flash of lightning and clap of thunder.

I made a compilation of the close strikes I’ve filmed in recent years. Still have more to add from my archive, was procrastinating but all this thunderstorm talk might just push me to do it. 😆

Is that similar to people "escaping" to the coast for cooler weather?

Some rain would lovely right now.   Not sure if I have mentioned it... but I prefer balance.   We can't seem to find that.   One extreme or the other.

Side note... one of my son's friends from WSU is from Yakima and his degree was in agriculture and he is going to be working in the fruit industry there.  Brilliant kid.

Seriously though, a dear friend just moved to Yakima because her in laws are in failing health and live there, a very selfless move because we all know her quality of life just took a big hit.

That would have been more like my uncle (my dads brother) he was a hardcore slalom skier back in the day. He would call me every Friday evening during the summer asking if I could meet him at the lake at 7am…As a teenager that was hard to wake up that early and you should feel sorry for me!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I think it's a question that could/should be asked. I had a classmate in high school who started a job as a pharmaceutical salesperson after college. Everyone celebrated her for the "great job," but no one was willing to talk about what she was actually doing. Working for an industry that kills hundreds of thousands of Americans a year while extracting great profit. Truth must be spoken to power.

I have a good friend who moved to NYC a few years before the pandemic. He seems to really enjoy it, is a nurse, and engaged to a former Ms. Belize.

Was in Chicago recently, wonderful city if you stay in the right areas. I usually go to DC 1-2 times a year, absolutely love it. Cities like PDX and SEA are the real hellholes.

I love Chicago too.  I don't see Seattle being bad,  spent a couple weekends right downtown for concerts in April.  also there for Biz 3-4 times a year.  Seems fine to me.  sure it has some homeless.  what city of that size doesn't?

I don't go to Portland as often (twice a year) and stay in the Pearl area.  seems fine.

06z GFS was nice. Maybe we get something of a spring after all.

Maybe some variety per that run.

Can't tell yet in the Seattle area due to low clouds... but the view from Bellingham where there are no low clouds shows that the high level smoke is gone and the sky is deep blue again.

Saw a pic of our garden on FB from this day in 2015 and it is as far along or maybe even a little better now than it was back in 2015.  We planted about 3 weeks earlier in 2015 compared to this year (4/6/15 vs 4/29/23) so its pretty impressive that the garden is at the same stage as one of the warmest springs ever.   It has been growing very fast over the last 10 days.

Deli. Worked as dishwasher and then front counter worker.

Did PCC have Deli Drama™️ too? One of my first jobs was at Safeway and I was the deli and meat counter dish washer and was about as entertaining you’d see on TLC these days.

Not sure I believe the GFS with that second low diving down so deeply.   The 12Z GEM looks quite different on that same day with the second trough being pulled up into Canada rather than diving down the west coast.    The EPS is leaning that way too.    We will see.
