That’s a crap load of lightning for west of the cascades. And 30 k tops, a rare occurrence.

Yeah that must be where I’m seeing the lightning from. There’s a decent light show out in that direction right now. Though it seems like it would be closer with how the lightning looks.

I think round 2 is what we see down south. I hope it delivers.

Those storms up in the Port Orchard area have some really high cloud tops. The Portland radar can pick them up. That's over 150 miles 😳⛈️

Woah, I’ve never seen that radar pick something up that far north.

Snow is better during the day, lightning is better at night. Do you agree? And windstorms better during day as well.

Another thing about thunderstorms is that they don’t have to be right over you to see the show! Especially at night!

I know, right..lol. I said the same thing when I saw it on the Portland radar. Those cloud tops are very high. It explains why there is a lot of lightning. Not just cloud to ground lightning but cloud to cloud lightning too that won't be picked up on my lightning detector.

Looks like some more showers/thunderstorms are reforming. I did a close up on one so you can see what I'm talking about.

I hope I don't miss out on all this action. I need to go to bed. I have to get up early. I also have a medical procedure tomorrow afternoon. I'm not looking forward to not eating after my morning breakfast 😕 Have fun watching the thunderstorms tonight. Hopefully there will be some in my area either tonight or tomorrow morning 🤗⛈️ Goodnight 😊

For those who haven’t seen storms yet. Keep in mind models did not pick up on most of this. Step outside and you can feel it in the air. We’re just getting started.

The storm near mount rainier might be heading into the south sound. Looks pretty significant at the moment.

Looks like central sound will be missed but you never know.

Central sound is more 2am timeframe according to NAM/HRRR

Looks like an organized band is moving in off the cascades and will be pretty decent for areas Tacoma south.

This is really impressive. Another way you can look at this is, it would take either 3 Mt. Hood's or almost 3 Mt. Rainier's to be as tall as those thunderstorms. That's the only reason why the Portland radar could pick them up 😳 that is impressive for the PNW.

Again, this is the screenshot I took from the Portland radar of those storms up near Puget Sound.

There are showers on the East side of Oregon as you can tell from the radar. They are not producing lightning for now but that can change in a heartbeat. Let's hope we can get some activity this morning 🤗⛈️

Clouds definitely have that unstable look this morning…we will see what happens later on today. Low of 49 this morning after a 74/50 temp spread yesterday.

Dry and quiet here this morning.    Not sure there will be any convection up here with this system.

Based on the models... I am really hoping tomorrow is soaking wet.   The next systems on Sunday and Tuesday appear to be headed into Oregon and then its back to ridging.    Tomorrow is the only significant rain shown here on 00Z ECMWF and 06Z GFS runs.
