westMJim
The current official temperature of 52° and Muskegon makes today the 2nd warmest December 29th in Grand Rapids and 3rd warmest at Muskegon recorded history. The record of 65 at Grand Rapids is safe the number 2 and record at Muskegon is 54 in 1984 and 53 in 1908. The current temperature here at my house is now at
Niko
Looks like the warmer air is making its way into my area now as fog has settled in and temps are warming up into the low 40s. Expected to creep up into the 50s by tomorrow b4 the colder air rushes in during the day (falling temps to near 32F by late afternoon) and eventually the snow arrives for the evening. Winds will be very gusty tomorrow and might even issue a Wind Warning Criteria by today's 4pm package. 2 Quote Snowfall for Winter 2023 -24 for Metro Detroit Area Oct 2023: 0.2" AN Nov 2023: 2.2" AN Dec 2023: 0.5" BN Insane! Stormy
The lawns are mostly brownish but with the recent warmth, and rainfall as well, it greened up just a hair! I sure wasn't expecting such a mild December though when reading this forum back in November! Kudos to the CPC for forecasting that accurately (warm December) awhile back. Edit: I moved this post here from the recent storm thread since it's more about December and I didn't think about that at the time.

westMJim
A new record high for December 29th has been set at Muskegon with a temperature of 58. At Grand Rapids the current reading of 54 is still in 2nd place. Down at Benton Harbor the high there so far has been 61. With the DP’s in the mid 50’s that must be some of the highest DP’s ever recorded in Michigan in late December and maybe some of the highest ever in the month of December. The current temperature here at my house is 54.

IF this scenario was playing out in even 10 deg's colder atmosphere, I could've been looking at Tropical Storm conditions early morning switching over to a Bliz a few hours later. Even better ofc, would be to have normal cold temps and instead of this huge shield of rain coming from the south, I'd be looking at snow from the go, or at least a mix to snow scenario. Mi_Matthew
Currently experiencing rain and 35 degrees at the cottage. Gotta be one of my favorite noises of any season, the pitter patter of rain drops on an un-insulated roof, makes 35 & rain tolerable, so relaxing. WWA just went into effect but unless dynamic cooling can win out before the heavy precip to my south moves in, I feel like this advisory is 8 or so hours premature. Fingers crossed for over-achieving! My zone forecast has little to no accums daytime and 2-3" tonight, FWIW. 06z NAM likes areas just to my west and just to my north...
