lies!

We have already talked about this repeatedly on here. I was living in Reston, VA at the time. I remember that storm vividly.

I don’t have the weather history knowledge of many here but it had to have been a winter of between ‘98 and ‘00.

It wasn’t forecast at all. I remember the 5 o’clock weatherman saying that it would be light rain and that the precip was mostly going to be offshore. This was the early days of fast internet on phones, but I remember turning in for the night and checking the radar one last time, on my 1g phone.

I think it was in the low 20s and I saw a huge slug of moisture coming my way. It snowed 20+ inches that storm. And the forecasters fukked it up 5 hours before.

And just to preface so you conspiracy theorists will shut up. I went to Ferris State U. over there for HVAC training which I still do today. 24+ years in the trade.

You had internet on your phone in the late 90s?

Now I'm suspicious.

There’s still some residual AK/Yukon vortex and W-IO forcing during the *early portion* of January. Arctic air..even maritime polar air might be tough to come by at first as models struggle to handle the transition away from the old +IOD background state into the new IPWP/WPAC driven one. The Pacific subtropics/Hadley Cell are also expanded again via QBO/+PMM/extended IPWP coupling..also favors the slower transition with the poleward anticyclones and rossby wave dispersion.

As the month progresses, it’s my belief that the WPAC will take over and GOA/AK ridging will come to dominate the pattern, increasing the likelyhood of Arctic intrusion into the PNW and west-central US in general. So while it might initially be easier for cold to stay bottled up and/or slide east at the start of January, with time there should be more meridional action IMO.

Agreed. I'm thinking the big league Arctic Blast doesn't come until around the middle of the month. We should still get colder weather before then though.

Like I said. It was 20 years ago and I drank like a fish, maybe I saw it on the news. Can’t remember. I do know the storm happened, I was there.

I crashed into a pickup when I got back to my apartment one night sliding in the snow. I got laid that night.

Just think...If it works out we won’t have to worry about sun angles for the first time in a long time!!

Sun angles have increased in a VERY big way in the last six days alone. By mid-January they are so high and strong it’s tough to even get sticking snow on paved surfaces during daylight hours. Just ask Matt.

Lol.

I had a coworker where I worked named DJ. Lazy black guy that had an inverter in his work truck. He had a laptop and PlayStation hooked in and would show up for service calls and play video games instead. Never got anything done.

He and I partied a lot in West VIrginia until they threw him in jail for not paying child support to the 6 kids he had with 5 women. This is all a true story.

Snowflake? That was over 20 years ago. Get real.

And I am raising a household. Get out of here with your garbage. You know nothing about me so please refrain from such ridiculous statements. Unbelievable.

Just got word from my radiologist that a pulmonary nodule has been discovered in my left lung during my most recent check-up.

It appears small enough to treat and at this time, has not grown or spread but strongly advised to go back in for a CT scan to determine further action.

Needless to say I am a bit shocked that at forty years old I "may" have cancer. I have lived a fairly active life coupled with good diet and no detrimental activities such as smoking, binge drinking, etc. There is no history of cancer in my family so I'm at a loss as to why this issue has suddenly surfaced.

Wish you the best friend. Hopefully it’s nothing, but if it is something, praying that it is early enough to be beaten. I know what it’s like when the doctor tells you the “C” word, my mom who is 70 now was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer 5 years ago and was able to beat it.

Keep the spirits high! Your mind is part of the battle. Keep us updated.

Made it up to Hoodoo for opening day. Was about 30 with flurries. They had maybe an inch of new snow. Base was only 15.5" (Seemed like less), but they had a few lifts running.

Thankfully we know he’s black or this post wouldn’t make any sense at all! :eye roll:
