I don't know if the ground hog will see his shadow or not on Sunday. My guess is he will not. But I have daffodil's up on the side of the house. I have seen them starting in February before but not in January. They are about 3" tall. If you have any planted in your yard take a look and see if they are up or not. At this time it is 35 here with you guessed it cloudy skies.

Back when I had tulips out front (east side), they were up at least 3" in Jan of 2012

Attm, 28F under cloudy skies.

A "just right" winter temp in my book. I loved days up north when the snow cover was mid-winter deep and pristine and we'd get a break from the bone-chilling cold. A calm 25-30F up there felt like shirt sleeve wx, yet the snow pack was cold core, and didn't whither at all. Those were rare and exceptional conditions tbh, and the ideal winter scenario for myself.

Scored a 2nd day at or below 32F today! #winter  ;)

This weekends system, if ya wanna call it that for mby is nothing. Maybe a few flurries or wet snowshowers rolling on through (perhaps a dusting in spots) and that should be it. Next week comes the real stuff. ;)

Not in our geographic area but Fairbanks,AK has had an AVG JAN temp of around -22F. I thought it would be close to one of the coldest JAN's on record for them but it turns out it was closer to top 20.  Unreal. I believe the coldest was around -27F. Puts "cold" into perspective.

Best snow since Halloween coming down right now.

That nice little wave ends up going to crap over my way tomorrow. I think the day time heating ruins it for here because the NAM12 then re-ignites it east of SMI after dark. Don't really see another reason why it does that?
