Part I - January 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

Never thought I'd say this, but this is on the extreme end of how things could be less snowy for some areas. Contrary to what some East-coasters have said in the past, not too cold to snow, but rather all that cold results in a more suppressed track, and pushes things south. Frigid run though, to say the least. I thought the 12Z was the coldest we could get.

Quite the model battle going on...But I have to say I think the GFS is Matt Hasselback and the Euro is the Green Bay Packers...

What really sucks is that the GFS shows what would be a quick heavy rain to heavy snow transition at my house on Sunday night... and then the frickin satellite dish gets covered with snow and the snow falling disrupts the signal and I will be watching the game in short increments if at all.

Through hour 132 the GEM is actually a lot more aggressive with the cold air push. Not as snowy though.

This lingering snow around the SEA METRO area has been continually shown for days now, this is going to be the most EPIC thing this decade. Possibly even this century, hopefully we get Tim and Mossman reporting first flakes within 24 hours from now.

The WA County shadow of death strikes again on the GEM. d**n Canadians!

516 line gets to SLE, 504 to Seattle. Not quite as cold as the GFS down here, but still very cold. Looks like the mid-weeks system is coming further north than the GFS.

The 12z GEM brought that low in faster and kinda bombed out and went into Vancouver island. This probably ends up a bit closer to the GFS than the 12z GEM at least.
