At my office (NWS Phoenix) we cover Imperial and Riverside counties. I've been watching temperatures creep up out there the last few weeks. This week looks like mostly mid to upper 90s. Pretty boring but comfortable for those areas.

Do you and others at NWS Phoenix see signs that we may have a more active monsoon this summer? I have been reading some hints on this possibility recently, but I wanted to see what your take is on it.

A little bit of drizzle this morning in Laguna Niguel.

I hope you are able to get and mount a rain gauge soon, I'd love to see what rain totals you guys get in Orange County.

Spring has been utter crap this year with constant cooler than avg temps and endless marine layer. I really hope we see a hot Summer with frequent monsoonal intrusions and tropical cyclone remnants.

Looks like it’s been absolutely frigid down that way.

The 2020-2021 season total in Downtown Los Angeles (since both Oct 1 and Jul 1) currently stands at 5.80".

Top 10 driest rainy seasons in Downtown Los Angeles since records began in 1877 are as follows:

(1) 3.21" - 2006-2007

(2) 4.42" - 2001-2002

(3) 4.79" - 2017-2018

(4) 4.85" - 1960-1961

(9) 6.67" - 1923-1924

(10) 6.73" - 1893-1894

When are we ever going to have a very cold and wet winter followed by a warm and mostly dry spring? 6 of the last 7 years Downtown L.A. has averaged lower for the high temperature in May than April.

I'm waiting for the next 2004-2005 winter scenario. I would give just about anything for a winter as wet as that again. I was in the 7th grade back then but I remember it very well.
