The Marine Layer cleared out and the high smoke aloft is much thinner and more milky look today.

Sun finally came out here just now, but some leftover clouds are still present and it's only 71F. I love this weather, although I wish it would stay cloudy longer.

Exactly two years ago today, we experienced the same exact weather pattern as today. A super strong marine layer that goes well inland. @Pn1ct0g3n @Mr Marine Layer

I think the ocean was warmer that year.

Could finally see lows in the 40's Wednesday morning, finally some real fall weather. We haven't temps under 50 yet this month due to the unusually persistent marine layer.

From experience growing up a mile from the ocean and living here for 33 years it’s not unusual to have a thick marine layer in late September at all. But what is unusual is for it to persist the entire month.

The reason why the Marine Layer has been very strong for the past several day is due to the upper level low in Arizona and the approaching trough from the NW.

The marine layer clouds are already coming back in already...

Low over Arizona was there since last Thursday, but marine layer did not skyrocket until yesterday.

Maybe, just maybe, the marine layer will be deep enough for some reverse clearing tomorrow.

We had several way back, on 09/18/1999 and 09/21-22/2000 also. Highs only in the 60s those days.

Actually 2019 was one of the only mild summers here inland of the entire 2010s (others being 2010 and 2011). Most others were quite hot, particularly Summer 2018.

Contrary to the cool temperatures coastal members here saw this summer, this summer was mostly very hot here inland, much hotter than average.

Some reverse clearing today.

The muck has made it all the way into the Southern Central Valley this morning. Bakersfield won't be baking today.

Seems to be less thick than yesterday, however.

It does seem weaker. It’s warmer than before and the sun is peeking through.   By Thursday, we should be seeing some Indian Summer conditions.

The dry cold front has passed and now seeing post frontal cumulus clouds. That’s when you know that the stupid inversion got wiped out!

Cool night, but the sun’s out again and it warmed up nicely in the morning. I do enjoy those fall days where it’s in the upper 60s to low 70s but without the stiff breeze of summer, so you don’t get a chill at all.
